In the new apartments they just built off Centerville?

Interesting your dealings with DTP...a lot of people that have had their cars dyno'd there have very high numbers...I will leave it at that...I am not doubting his tuning abilities just the readout of the dyno.

Are you interested in cam installs on the side or possibly helping people out as far as assistance? I am interested in doing it learning and I know of one other guy who is local and will be back from England in April and he want to do a set.

What made you decide on those cams and did you consider the Ford or BBR cams? I am an automatic with bolt ons and 410 gears so I am trying to decide what cams would work the best for my car...esp since it is a DD and the traffic going into and out of the base sucks.

Whom might that be Greg? And Cams for you? HELLZ Yeah, I have turned you to the dark side... but you know what that is about the only mod you have left to do ;)

As an aside I was thinking you and I should have Jason design us some cams.

Wow, I live right around the corner...lol. I live right accross the street from regent university off of indian river/stricktland (last street before getting the interstate) on the centerville side of the interstate.

I had it tuned by Brent at DTP in chesapeake. The car felt better at WOT but driveability just wasn't nearly as good as the brenspeed tune (which put down 325rwhp and 350rwtq). DTP uses dyno dynamics and they tend to read even higher then dyno jets. My car put down 338rwhp and 359rwtq SAE corrected with the dyno tune (prior to the cams and gears). A/f ratio was 12.8ish.

I want to keep my brenspeed tune and just tweak the a/f if need be. Brent at DTP does a great job and probably could do better if I took it backand requested it. I just didn't have time or money to go back. He tuned by buddies 04 GT that I installed a procharger on last summer and it turned out great.

Dude, you live like half a mile away from me! I live off of Brandon, well that is when I am not in England. Brent is a good dude, he fixed a tuning issue I had left over from Ed Clark, but his dyno reads silly numbers. It's from Australia after all.

On your cam install did you have the timing chain wedge and the other special tool that is "recommended" ?

I am interested in side jobs. BUT I am backed up at the moment and pretty much done until after March 17th. My wife is leaving for a 8 month deployment that day and I am focusing my extra time on her and our daughter. After she leaves I will jump back into the side jobs again. NSR cams are honestly very easy and I may make an exception. If you are interested we can take this to PM or meet up sometime and chit chat in the future.

Why did I go with these NSR cams? There are a few reasons. Cost played a big role. If I did springs, retainers and limiters it would be easily over a grand for parts. I only have a 2 valve spring compressor so I would have to buy the 3 valve spring compressor as well. Another 300 bux or so.

I would have liked to go bigger and better but I just felt the extra work and money involved for VSR's and SPR's aren't worth it to ME. So out of my research of NSR cam's I narrowed it down to BBR stage 1's and Comp NSR stage 2's. Hot rods and thumpers are to much sound and not enough performance for my likings. I wanted good driveablilty and power. Sound being a by product. Which in my case it all turned out nicely. I feel I got the best of both worlds.

I was skeptical on BBR's lift. IMO it is to high for the stock springs. I think that the valves will eventually start floating after a while (prematurely wear out). Other wise Comp would not recommend valve springs with there VSR's which happen to have nearly the same lift as BBR's. I could not get BBR to back up there reasoning as to why they feel there stage 1's are safe with the stock springs. I was told coil bind did not occur until .512 lift on stock springs. But that wasn't even my main concern. I am more concerned with the spring rate of the stock springs to be able to keep the valves fully closed at high RPM.

The comp NSR's, thumpr line and even hot rods do not require springs and have lift of no more than .450". While BBR Stage 1's on the other hand are at .480". Get what I am saying? I REALLY am not trying to put down the BBR cams. These are simply my opnions on what I wanted. They may work fine for some folks, I don't know. I just know I rev the crap out of my car and didn't wan't valve floating to occur.

The Comp NSR's have been proven over and over again to provide gains.

I guess overall, I felt that it wasn't worth the extra work and money to go with bigger cams for only a few more ponies. I also would like to have cams that work well with a twin screw which the comp NSR's tend to do. Also with the money I saved I was able to gears as well. NSR Cams/gears > bigger cams/no gears. The gears where partially paid for by a freind for christmas but I bought the supporting components.

Wow I typed a lot. Hope I answered you questions.

LOL...quit lurking Jessie!

Not sure about Jason designing cams for us...the mustang will be dead and buried before he would finish them!

I have to figure out which one makes sense to do first, LT's or cams...I know they compliment each other.

I only used the timing chain wedge. No spring compressor.

Wow..good reading and I agree on taking this to PM's about side work.

My concern with being an auto and a DD I don't want something wild which is why I was looking at something that did not require spring upgrades...but...I would love to know what approx power out is from "stage 1" cams are to see if they are worth the cost as well as what the total cost for the cam swap would be.

I don't have an auto but my NSR II's arn't giving me any problems with DD driving once the car is warmed up. I'm in Norfolk so let me know if you want to hear them in person.:thumb2:

Hmmm...another happy customer with NSR II's...did you compare them with the Ford Hot Rods or BBR's cams?

Ya. I've heard the FRPP cams in person and they sound really good but as it was stated before, I just love the proven gains that the NSR II's give. On the bad side, I think people with autos have had a problem with decreased ET's.
