Rev and Rev Lite for the iPhone/iPod Touch. Uses a wireless network device plugged into the OBD-II port to stream data to your iPhone. Hardware ($229) and software ($50) isn't cheap and I get the impression the software is not as developed as it could be as far as being able to log data outside the common OBD-II specification. But since it looks interesting, I am going to post it here. I am not affiliated with those folks in any way and don't own the equipment.

At least it's less of a hassle than lugging a laptop plugged into your tuner plugged into the OBD-II port. These guys claim they are looking for customer feedback to improve the product so bitch away and maybe they'll add stuff.

Mods can move this wherever, I didn't see a forum I thought it belonged in 100%.

Although older, I use similar technology but with a Palm handheld, with a custom OBD data display and a program that I modify as needed.
At some point I'll port it over to the iPhone.
It's a relatively simple thing to set up ;)

And of course there's Dynolicious, which uses the built-in accelerometer, not the OBD port. My Windows Mobile device has an accelerometer, hopefully they'll make a WM version soon.

Here is something similar for Windows Mobile users, but you have to provide your own OBD interface. Scroll down for English.

Price update and new OBD wifi hardware

Greetings from San Francisco! We here at DevToaster have a big news
update for you, so let's get started.

= Rev 1.5 Released ======
Rev 1.5 has successfully navigated the labyrinth of Apple's review
process and emerged victorious -- it is now on the iPhone App Store.
As discussed in our last e-mail, Rev 1.5 has a bunch of new features,
fixes, and enhancements, including support for emissions-related
readiness monitors, higher limits for the RPM gauge, better support
for later-model vehicles, saving of your last-used Multi-Metric Logger
configuration, and lots more. It is a highly recommended update.
Existing Rev customers receive this update for free.

= New Hardware Support and Goodbye to the DevToaster Store ===
Today we are very proud to announce support for two new hardware
devices for Rev. Along with CarCode-Muller (the creators of the the
first WiFi/OBD-II device, the ElmCanII), these companies have seen the
potential of Rev and the in-vehicle wireless network. Let us introduce
to you our three supported hardware devices:

* Kiwi Wifi ***
by PLX Devices
Kiwi Wifi is a plug and play wireless device measuring only 2.75 x
1.25 x 0.6 inches!
Kiwi Wifi comes attached with a 3 ft OBDII cable for easy
installation.
Connecting to your iPhone/iPod touch is made by 802.11a/b/g connection
in ad-hoc mode.
- Product info: http://www.plxkiwi.com/kiwiwifi/hardware.html
- Price: US$150 (introductory) + shipping from the United States.
Ships worldwide.

* OBDKey WLAN ***
by KBM Systems
OBDKey WLAN is a vehicle interface providing a WiFi/Wireless LAN/WLAN
radio interface for devices that have a WiFi compatible system.

- Product info: http://www.obdkey.com/wifi/index.asp
- Price: £169.95 + VAT (EU) + shipping from the United Kingdom. Ships
worldwide.

* ElmCanII-WLAN ***
by CarCode-Muller
Rev's original hardware partner! The first OBD-II/WLAN product on the
market. Manufactured in Germany under strict European Union
standards.
OBD2/EOBD interface for all protocols and WLAN (TCP/IP) computer/
iPhone connection, with a maximum bandwidth of 54 Mbps.
Includes all cables and protection bag.
- Product info:
http://www.obd-2.de/eShop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_4&products_id=2&language=en
- Price: 199.00 euro + shipping from Germany. Ships worldwide.

Each of Rev's supported devices requires little to no setup -- usually
just setting up your iPhone on the network and setting the right
numbers in Rev's Hardware Setup. Our updated user manual describes the
setup process:

http://devtoaster.com/products/rev/manual/Rev%20User%20Manual.pdf

And our hardware page has all the details:

http://devtoaster.com/products/rev/index.html#hardware

Sales and support of each of the devices are handled through their
manufacturers -- please let us know your experiences. DevToaster will
still provide support to everyone who purchased the ElmCanII-WLAN
directly from DevToaster.

On that note, it is also today that we announce the closing of the
DevToaster Store. With these three great hardware products now
available across the globe, DevToaster will no longer be selling
hardware directly. This will let us keep costs low and, more
importantly, will let us concentrate exclusively on making Rev the
best iPhone application for all you gearheads out there.

We are excited about all of these hardware products -- thanks to all
these companies for their enthusiasm.

= Price Drop on Rev ===
As part of our other announcements today, DevToaster is also happy to
announce a price drop on Rev. Rev is now on the App Store for $39.99.

= The Future of Rev ===
As always, Rev is a user-driven product and we encourage you to send
your feedback and requests to us directly at [email protected].
Your feedback has been directly responsible for the new features,
enhancements, and fixes in Rev 1.5 and are driving our future
development. We are working right now on some awesome new features for
Rev to improve usability and the user interface, and support many of
the features you've been asking for. Remember: All updates to Rev
will be free, now and forever.

Thanks as always to our user community for your enthusiasm and
support. We hope you enjoy Rev 1.5 and our newly-supported hardware.

Regards,

I saw that years ago and figured I'd wait for the price to drop to get one. Then I completely forgot about it. Does anyone still make something like that for a Palm? Wife wants a iPod touch but I doubt she'd let me use it for the car.
