I've read that, while the AMSoil 0-20w is great, it doesn't quite match the quality of their 'Signature Series,' which is 0w-30.

Many folks have argued the 30 is better (and quieter) than 20 for the 4.6, and Ford recommended the 5w-20 only for CAFE standards. Since the 5.0 just came out, it will be interesting to see what the results are with 5w-30 and 0w-30 oils.

Did my first oil change today. Used Motorcraft Synthetic blend. Checked Wal-mart, Advance Auto and Ford, no one had full synthetic.

Motorcraft FL-500S if I remember correctly.

Thanks...It seems as if this filter is also used on the new 240 hp 3.0 V6
(duratec?). That application would be certain Escapes, Fusions, and the Edge.
But I am not a parts-counter guy, just doin' some searching.
Apparently, it has a lower bypass setting, 8 psi, as compared to the 4.6, which is 16. That's from Amsoil...
Same thread(22X1.5 MM) & micron rating (21), but smaller body.

The filter that was installed at the factory has no branding on it. Just says FOMOCO.

Yeah, I understood that. I just thought it would of been a motorcraft filter.

Now, Back to the oil thread. In 5.0 mag, they did a big spread on the coyote,
engineers declared the oil can get REALLY hot, and full-on track use would need an oil
cooler. It's those piston-squirters spraying the bottom of the slugs. Maybe that is the reason for the 8 qt. capacity???? Wonder if the GT350 has one?

Yea, that article cited the hot oil as the reason for 8 quarts . . . along with wanting a 10,000 mile change interval.

The same article also mentioned that a smaller oil pump was used to scrounge a little more hp, thus necessitating the thin 5w-20.
