Hey guys!

The weather finally decided to cooperate with us down here and I got to race! Between ADRL events and the weather I haven't been on the track in weeks!

Well I decided to take the car out for the Inaugural TXDRL race at the 1/8th mile track! There was a new class Strictly Street which is sponsored by the shop that does my work.

Pretty simple rules.

Car has to have Inspection Sticker, License Plate, AC and PS.
Nothing larger then a a 28/10.5 tire
Sportsman tree
Heads up run what you brung

Ol'blue ended up taking home the win!

Got a few vids for you guys!

This particular fella posted on a local board he wanted to "run one of them Rustangs". Lucky for him he got his wish........not so lucky...he got me! LOL

Ended up being an all Ford final,

I'll see about posting up some time slips tonight!

Yep, that's my ugly mug!! Took that pic at 2:00 in the morning! Everything got delayed when Turbo Todd Moyer wrecked after going 4.08 (he's ok)

EVERYONE BEAT ME OFF THE TREE!! LOL

I had run the car at HRP (1/4 mile track) the night before. I thought I broke the stinking blower!! Got home at 1:30 in the morning on Saturday slept for 3 hours and went back to the shop to see if I could fix the car!

Ended up that I had sheared a bolt from the tourque converter and it was hitting the block. However, it took me all day to find it!! Didn't get to HMP until the last round of qualifying!

I looked at everyones numbers I knew I ddin't need to run all out to win. Heck the only way I could loose was to beat myself (not trying to be conceded just a matter of numbers). So I dialed the car down a bit and I gave everyone the move so I knew I wouldn't red light. LOL

A stupid strategy in retrospect.....but then again I hadn't had much sleep! LOL Well I got lucky and it worked!

This is true!

With an added unforseen result! All the local boards are talking about how you need to be able to run a 6.20 to compete with the "Pesky" Blue car!

What you think they'll do when I turn it up next race and lay down a real number! LOL

I was the only S197 there! LOL I figure I'm safe here!

They were all worried about the fox bodies. They all thought I was going to be easy....till someone noticed the chute on the back! LOL

Some priceless quotes from the two Camaro's I ran:

1st LS1 Driver "I knew I had you on the tree....then all the sudden I could hear that thing coming....I didn't even get a chance to look in my mirror and you were past me!"

2nd LS1 driver "Damn that car will fool you. It's quite untill you get to the tree....then it sounded like that blower is eating kittens over there!"

That's great! Just keep quiet and then wait till you see the boards after you put down 5.90's...lol When is the next race? Is it always at that track or is it a series? I would love some heads up stuff like that out here but I don't have AC or PS anymore so I wouldn't fit anyway...

It moves a little but it's all in Texas. Next one is at the same place.

That track is fast! I've run a 5.801 with a crappy 60' at HRP so I think I can probably better that number at HMP. The only problem with HMP is it's narrow (NO ROOM FOR MISTAKES) and there isn't much shutdown AT ALL!!!! Add to it there is a really nice highway only 30' beyond the sandpit and I have been playing it careful.

I've talked to all the guys with the faster cars and the one thing they all say......you better be on the chute FAST!

That's the other reason I turned the car down. I sprayed 50% starting 3 seconds out. I was on the brakes pretty aggressively to make the last turnoff. I think I'll make a couple practice hits there and walk the spray in before the next race. I really don't want to tip my hand.......but I'd really like to keep my car in one piece too!

Sounds like our old Perris track out here. Normally, you don't hang the laundry in the 1/8 mile but sounds like you may want to there if you turn it up some. Not worth sipping just because you don't want to role the chute back up - ya know?
