I have an 09 GT with 8K miles on it and lately have noticed that when i go and try to powerslide to the right, only the inside wheel will spin, like if it were an open differential. It never used to do this and is why its bothering me. It works fine when i try and slide to the left though, both wheels lock up and let the car slide. I was thinking about maybe it had to do something with the true trac that people talk about replacing, but im just assuming, being that i don't know what true trac is. Has this happened to anybody??

Your diff clutches are going, the weight of these cars the stock style clutches dont last long..
But at 8k miles i find that ridiculous. I have never gone to the track and my car is bone stock. I do have a heavy foot, but its not like im doing burnouts everyday. Ive done maybe 5 or 6 short burnouts for as long as i had the car, which is like 6 months. i bought it brand new. Could this really be happening already so soon??

Sad but true..mine started showing symptoms around the same time, at 20k miles it's pretty well done I think. And I have never ever done a burnout (but I hit the road course frequently).

I'd imagine it would fall into the "wear item" category like clutches and brake pads..which would mean no.

clutch packs are covered under the 5/60 powertrain.

well the worst case scenario would be that the broken down clutch pack material will contaminate the fluid and it will lose it lubricity (sp). that could lead to needing your rear diff rebuilt, but with only 8,000 miles i wouldn't worry too much about that. if it is under warranty get it taken care of, the sooner the better.

Nah youll be ok with mufflers. The way it really works with warranty is, if and aftermarket part caused or helped cause the problem then it voids the warranty for that problem and that problem only.

boom tubes are an axle back exhaust
it will eventually just wear out and act like an open diff as far as I know. you could just get the rebuild kit, with the carbon clutch packs. a true trac is a good unit from what i understand, but unless your going to modify your car, or really start abusing it, it might be a waste of money for you to go that route.
my factory clutch packs are toast as well, and mine is going to get rebuilt hopefully this year.

i noticed the OP said the wheels don't "lock up" like they used to? what is a powerslide anyway? are you rippin the ebrake and cutting the wheel? and now only one locks?
or you mean to say you floor it and turn left, and it swings out, but if you do the same but turning right, it just smokes the inside tire?
if you speak of paragraph #2, then you are describing a ford. open diff fords virtually always spin the right rear tire. sometimes our limited slip isn't able to overcome the easiness of just spinning the right rear. so if you put it in a certain situation, you might get an open-diff type result.. it's not a detroit locker right?
so the solution: i doubt there's anything wrong with your rear end. but do what you will; any ford with less than 12 months or 12 thousand miles is eligible for basically whatever you want done, paid for under warranty by ford.
boom tubes will not void a warranty claim on a rear end; however, big gobs of rubber in your rear wheel wells or any other obvious signs of abuse will negate any claims that you may make

In all it really depends on what you are going to do with the car. If you are not planning on doing many mods to the car I would just get it fixed under warranty, if you are planning on doing some minor bolt ons and gears than I would atleast do the carbon clutch upgrade they will hold pretty much any bolt on mods. Now if you are planning any power adders than I would have it fixed under warranty and save for a T2 or something simmilar.
