Online vinyl retailer?

The black stripe on my hood is pretty much shot. It was painted black, but the clear has seen better days. As a temporary fix, I've been thinking about putting black vinyl over the paint. The only problem is that all the online dealers I've found sell strips of 24" wide. I haven't gotten the exact measurement, but I know the top of my cowl is wider than 24".

Does anyone know of an online retailer from whom I can order a roll of vinyl? I've called around to a few local places, but they don't sell their vinyl.

Why not just go to a local vinyl shop and get them to cut you one to match

I guess I should have been more clear. The few shops around here that I could get in touch with wouldn't do anything for me unless they also installed it.

I just want to buy some vinyl and do it myself, no need in paying someone else to do it.

I can't tell from the photo, but it looks like it is only the Hood. If that is all , then let them do it. They will only charge about $50.00.

It is the hood, but why would I take my car to someone and have a job done that I could do myself? Sure, it may only be 50 bucks, but that's $50 I could save.

It is called economics, you see you have a job, people use your sevices so that you can be paid. That allows you to go the the vinyl shop use there services so that they can be paid. Who knows someone at the vinyl shop may even spend their money were you work.

... Not really sure how your post has any relevance, but I'll play along. Do you take your car to a specialty shop for every mod you do? Why would I take my car to a shop and pay them to do work I'm perfectly capable of performing myself? Sure, I could go spend the $50 to have them do it, or I could do it myself, save some cash, and enjoy working on my car.

And, I highly doubt a vinyl shop has any dealings with my employer.

Ya know I had the same issue I had matte black stripes painted my car. When I got a new hood I was faced with not having stripes to match. I took my car to the local vinyl shop and had them do the work best thing I could have done. Saved me the hassle.

decalshoppe.com I've used them for three stripe kits I've installed. No I'm not an installer, but it's not that tough a job. You can do it, easily.

PM if you need some help, Ken

How much would it cost to have the clear resprayed vs. getting the vinyl?

Well, the only reason I'm holding off on painting is because the rest of the hood isn't what you'd call "show quality." Lots of dings and chips. Like I said, this is just a temporary fix until I can save up the coin to paint the hood and front end at the same time.

Thanks, Ken, much appreciated. I'll shoot them an email and see if they'll sell vinyl sheets. It'd be too difficult to try and get anyone online like that to custom make a vinyl for me.

I just use eBay.
