I tryed to search on anyone else has asked this before and am surprised I couldnt find any. But anyone here order there Mustang and how long it took for it to come in? I ordered a 2013 Mustang GT base with the Brembo brakes, gotta have it green color, and automatic transmition. Dealership "claims" a 4 week time frame but I find that extremly hard to belive its that fast. I ordered the car June 15th and tommorow is 2 weeks already and I still dont have a build date or VIN. I figured 8-10 weeks before it shows up. The dealership was talking with in 7 days I would have a build date but I dont yet.

But wondering how long ussally for Ford to issue a build date, VIN, then delivery.

Thanks

Your usually talking 6-8 weeks. Sometimes a dealer can modify a car already in the order que, which can speed things up a little.

^^^^What he said. It really does vary. Color has a lot to do with it. They paint cars in batches by color and yours could miss the que by just one car. You may see 20 black cars come out of paint, then 12 red, 7 green, etc. Options can matter as well. That doesn't happen much anymore. Most manufacturers can plan well enough to have all of the parts there. But if they all of a sudden get a shit load of orders with the Shaker 1000 they could run out out of subs. Just an example.

Bottom line> place your order, sit back & relax, and wait for the phone to ring. Enjoy!

You basically are at the mercy of the "just in time manufacturing system" Ive worked in the automotive supplier industry my entire life so i can see reasons for delays on ordered vehicles. If just one component related to your particular order becomes unavailable your build moves to another place in the cue.As an example say you ordered track pack and a hose supplier had a quality issue and they happened to supply a hose for the oil cooler. Ford will place any vehicle needing that hose at a later date in cue and continue building vehicles that dont until they have that hose back in thier inventory. At that point the may or may not move that build ahead in cue . Note that was ficticous and only used as an example.

I order all of the Mustangs, SVT's, and Shelbys for the Ford dealership where I work. 80% of our Mustang V6/GT orders arrive in 8-10 weeks from the time we place the order. The other 20% come quicker or longer than that 8-10 week timeframe.

I figured 8-10 weeks. That is good to know you generally get them in that time frame. My dealership claimed 4-6 weeks but at week 2 now and no VIN or build date I think that was a bit of a misconception. Thats why I am asking how long it takes lol
