My wife's brother is in the Navy.
Been in for over 20 years and just recently made Senior Chief.
He's based on the USS Fort McHenry.

His wife and I got together and overhauled his 2008 V6 mustang recently just before his arrival for a few days at his birthday, before he heads out to sea again.

He has always wanted the "blacked out" look and liked chrome wheels.
Based on that, we had a lot of options. With the help of Fastlane Motorsports, I was able to obtain the following upgrades:

1. We choose the GT500 chrome wheels and Nitto 555 tires as a nice package.
2. We installed the valve stem mounted TPMS sensors designed for the 07-09 models.
3. Next was black, locking, lug nuts to keep them secured while the car was parked on base.
4. I had Tinted Atmospheres install 20% tint on the sides and back window. I had them install 55% on the windshield.
5. Next we turned to tune-up parts. K+N drop-in air filter, new Motorcraft spark plugs, and a new fuel filter were added.
6. I then cleaned under the hood and interior.
7. Lastly I spent 2 days correcting the paint on the car. It has lived in New Jersey for 4 years and the last 2 years has been in Virginia Beach. I washed it and clay-barred it first. Next I used my Flex 3401 polisher and Menzerna FG400 to knock out all the deep scratches and imperfections. I followed that up with Menzerna 1500, then Menzerna 4000, and finally threw some Pinnacle Souveran wax on top of it all.
Paint is wet and deep looking now!

His wife picked him up in D.C. two days later.
He got to drive it back to Virgina Beach that night.
He called me and couldn't believe the transformation. He said the car handled better. Had more noticeable power, got better gas mileage, and had beautiful paint.....better than it had ever been, even when new.

I was happy to complete this project with the help of my sister-in-law.
Receiving his surprise reaction and happiness was the best results I could have hoped for.

Enjoy.
Ryan

Thats pretty sweet. A little side note, the v6 doesn't have posi? Looks like only one wheel was spinning.

Nice work. That 3rd photo almost looked like you guys put a red stripe and a shaker hood scoop down the middle of the hood until I scrolled back and saw it was just another car in the background.

2005 to 2010 model years the V6 has a 7.5" rear end with open diff. Starting in 2011 all Mustangs come with a 8.8" and posi.

Thanks guys I appreciate the kind words.
I texted my brother today, he's back on the ship about to leave Florida.
Said the car averaged 24.8mpg on the way down from Virginia Beach. Claims he was only getting around 19.5mpg before. He's stoked!
Said car got lots of "looks" on the interstate.
Also said the tinted windows helped significantly in his comfort and the look!
:)
