Paint Chips?

What do you all recommend as for fixing those inevitable paint chips?! After cleaning the car, I realized I had more than what I can stand. Hell, one chip is fucking annoying!! I have the small bottle from Ford, ya know, the touch up paint........but I was curious on what you all use or recommend, if anything.

I have touched up a few spots with the Ford stuff...it's all globby-looking, but I don't have the balls to try to wetsand it smooth. Basically, I only touched it up because: a) chips are obvious on a black car, and b) I don't want any rust.

Yeah, that is what I am afraid of........kind of why I haven't tackled them yet. I wish there was something easier........

You can get touch up pens which make application a lot better/easier. You can get primer, paint and clear pens, and in factory colors. You can buy complete touch up sets that include sandpaper.

Note: these are only good for small areas, about the size of a pencil eraser.

i've given up on paint chips, i realized... its not a show car

i actually think they look kinda cool, atleast on my cars.. especially my subaru

but then again, my subaru has alot of "paint chips" and "road rash" from being at summit point 2-3 times a month LOL not to mention all the rubber marks all over it

ill look into that paintscatch stuff, i used their spray cans to paint my sideskirts actually (WRX)

Yeah, its Rally car anyway. Just shows you've used it for its intended purpose.
The front of my 08' looks like a pizza faced teenager when you look close. It's the DD so what can you do? Maybe its time for the Le Bra

I hear ya on the battle scars, but it's just annoying that every other time I wash the damn car I find a new one!! Grrrrr

Here is how you do it right here! 1) Clean the area like usual. 2) wipe the chipped spot with alcohol to insure all wax and debris are gone. 3) Apply first coat of touch up paint from your "Ford" bottle. Let it dry for about 24hrs. 4) Apply second coat of touch up paint from "Ford" bottle. Let it dry for about 24hrs. 5) Use 1000 grit sand paper and lightly sand the spot until it is smooth across (you may want to use painters tape to tape off areas around the chip). 6) Use 1500 grit sand paper and lightly sand the spot again. 7) Using a orbital polisher and 1500 grit polish, polish the spot until the faint scratches disappear. You may have to polish over it a few times to get out all the micro-marring. 8) Remove the painters tape (if you used any) and polish one last time including the surrounding areas. The paint in the chip may be a little different shade than the surrounding areas, but it will be A LOT less noticeable.
