Can anyone ID this thing? Looks like pieces of a bearing. has "16-14" marked do it.
I pulled about 5 of these out of a 2018 Coyote intake and I'm pretty sure I now have at least one in my cylinder. A bore scope is going to determine the damage.

Samos3, I bet you are right. I just didnt see the trees because of the forest.

I can guess how they got there. The damn shop that did the coyote swap. I'm betting a disgruntled employee left a handful in the intake, or more innocently, they had the throttle body off the intake while they were doing some of the wire splicing.

The most reasonable explanation is the first one.

Do you know the history of the motor? They could have been in there before that shop started working on it.

The motor was pulled from a totaled start & run 2011 Mustang, by the shop. They also did the 2018 intake swap. So the only ones to have access to the out of the box intake was that shop. including they fired one employee that was working on it. Unfortunately, it all points to them. And there is scaring, pitting and debris in the engine. No bueno

That sucks. Any recourse?

I am going to start with having a discussion with the shop owner and present him the evidence and go from there. It all hinges on his attitude towards a resolution. I just want to be covered on the replacement engine and labor costs to swap.

As for the car, LKQ Online with a 2014 Coyote.

So if they were splicing wires, can you determine if they are in close proximity to the top of the engine.

My devious mind would not say anything about it and visit the shop. And ask if he has a couple extra wire splice terminals. If he gives you one (or a couple), immediately compare it to the ones you found. If it matches, then show him what you found.

Definitely sounds like disgruntled employee. Back in 1970 I bought a new Mach I Mustang from the factory. The car was a lime green with a black antiglare (I think) wide tape painted down the hood. When the car arrived, that black area was painted on and tape removed too soon, thus leaving a sawed tooth effect on the edges. Someone had taken a knife and sliced the seats up. Didn't have trouble getting the seats replaced but the dealer fought me on fixing the hood.

It amazed me that Ford shipped the car in that condition. And the battle I had for over a year with the Ford Dealer in Santa Ana, CA. is why I never take my Mustangs to a Ford Dealer.

Episode 2: I talked to the shop owner, twice. He denies even having those nickel plated wire crimp connectors in his shop. However, I have proof they had them while they were working on my car. I was hoping he would file an insurance claim, but I am anticipating this going to small claims court where I will show the evidence to the judge. Stay tuned for more...
