passing emissions in illinois

so ive had some problems passing the illinois emissions. i had a tune that would keep giving me engine light problems it was always the 02 stuck rich, so i had brenspeed send me a tune that should pass me through emissions. plugged it in, everything was fine. i was told by them to drive it 70 miles so it kicks in. so im driving and im around 50 miles and BAM! the fucking engine light comes back on! now its throwing the code p2270, stuck lean. before i had this tune it was saying stuck rich! this is really starting to piss me off, because i have to get it emissions tested before the 1st of the next month or i lose my license for the car. should i clear the code then take it right to the emissions testing? i have no idea what the fuck to do anymore. please help!!!

I think if you clear it and go striaght there, they can tell that its been freshly cleared or something of that sort. You have to drive it for 70-100miles to avoid that.

You can try Bob Kurgan at Kurgan Motorsports out near Rockford, IL...he may be able to write you a emissions tune.

ya thats what i was told, so i drove it for like 80 and the engine light came back on. so should i clear it then drive another 70 miles? and if brenspeeds tunes arent working, i will definately go to kurgan. ive been told to go to kurgan from just about everyone, haha.

Yeah...Brenspeed has been doing my tunes and I think the latest one is causing me trouble. I plan on going elsewhere to try a different tune just to see. Kurgan does a great job. I would highly recommend him.

i just don't want to spend the money on another tune right now if i dont have to. even though its probably not that expensive.

Have you tried O2 non fouler adapters? Brenspeed has them for $9.99+shipping. You have to find them using the search feature.

if you clear the code u wont pass, the computer will not be ready and will show up on the screen, try Bob Kurgan or what some of my friends do is register the car somewhere esle like Braidwood il theres no emissions there.

The P1000 code will show up,,,system not ready. That's what you will see untill you go though the drive cycle.

i think its aroud 40 to 50 miles around chicago area, i have a friend who lives in braidwood il and he has a full bolton lincoln mark 8 runnig 10s no emission crap on the car, u might seen that car on youtube or other forums, his brother derek lives in romeoville which is like 20 miles from braidwood and he has emissions.
