Just bought back my old GT I sold when I got the Roush. The guy had installed cross drilled rotors and new pads. I'm trying to figure out if the rotors are installed backwards or does it make a difference?
This is the only pic i have right now..maybe you can make out the rotors...

or maybe not...lol

yeah the pic downsized when I posted it here..it was much bigger and the rotor could be seen pretty well. Anyway, the drill pattern is (in this pic) hole closest to wheel hub sweeping out toward the rear of the car on all the wheels..Not really sure how to explain it.

trust me if they are backwards you can tell. I ended up doing it on accident one time and when you drive down the road you can hear this scraping sound.

Op as you can see there is more than one design. Your best option is to take the wheel off and find out if the vanes are going the correct direction.

This is like my 3rd edit... that DBA diagram looks good, the other diagram is vague as to which side of the rotor is the inside and which is the outer.

I've always had mine set up like that DBA diagram.

Best bet is to look at the rotors themselves and see what manufacturer they are. They might even be marked with a "L" or "R" Some companies actually have their own slot designs and have specific install directions according to the brand or model of rotor.

That being said, yours look correct in my opinion.

Depends on the brake pads you are getting. Most will come with recommendations for their particular brand. Try these:

It depends on the venting. (vein structure inside the rotor)

Cross drilling and slots, do not matter. (Mostly cosmetic...as far as slot/drilled orientation...generically speaking)

The veins need to be as I pictured.

That's not an opinion, its a fact.

The vents act as a centrifugal pump.

I can show you a picture of my personal car, with them installed in the orientation of the DBA drawing...and heat spots.

I have made this mistake before. lol


If you have cheaper rotors that do NOT have curved/shaped veins....you can install them however you want.
