I know there are a couple thread already open on the subject but i have a few questions before i get started.

Tomorrow im going to try and plasti dip my billets, rear emblem, side emblems, and grill.

Billets-
I plan on removing the rims, cleaning with soap and water, but what else should i do before plasti dipping them? Would it be pointless to also do the lug nuts, considering the fact that im going to have to put stress on them during the re-install?

Emblems-
I plan on squaring off the emblems with tape so some plasti dip will get on the paint of the car. How do i ensure that when peeling off the plasti dip from the car it doesn't rip it off of the emblems also? I really dont want to have to out line the emblem with a razor.

Grill-
I have the pony package grill and i want to try and plasti dip all the chrome parts. Would it be dumb to plasti dip with the grill still on, even it i tape it off and place cardboard in the back?

How long inbetween coats and how long do i let the final coat set?

Hope you got a flame suit!! lol

Lug nuts, I think is a waste of time, but if you want wait till you put them back on then spray the lug nuts on the car.

If you just square off your tape you will need to cut around with blade or it will just peel off your emblem. Use a hobby knife, and take your time.

I think the grill parts, I would take them off to spray myself, but thats just me.

Why should he?

Yes the lug nuts will get hosed if you paint and torque down. You can buy black acorns and hopefully that will be close enough. Or as mentioned paint them while on which wouldn't hurt anything...till they come off of course. Clean your wheels as mentioned then tape off wheel or use playing cards as some here have done. I used about 4 coats and waited about 5 minutes between coats. This is stuff is very easy to use and is very durable once dry. Do not touch it till it is dry..as in...dont touch it till the next day to be on the safe side. Once you do it is ruined and you will have to take that shit off and start all over. Read all the threads already out there though cause there is alot of win in them already. -Shane

Shane, I expected the OP to get an immediate and severe flaming for not searching and reading the other threads that answer all or most of his ?s.

Was just a warning thats all.

I have been reading other threads...
They just mention cleaning the rims, not what they used. And as for the emblem must people are taking them off to plasti dip which i dont want to do, and the ones that leave it on say use a razor to outline but im looking for a different way.

Gotcha...yeah alot of good info already out for sure. But I guess he didn't find his answers in them and it's relatively a new topic and idea. Hell I hadnt seen anyone do it or mention it before I posted up my rims..lol.

I did my emblems on the car with no issues.

Just paint the emblems, then let it dry for about 15 minutes. Take a hobby knife, and run it around the emblem where it meets the body. Then peel off the platidip on the body part.

It is not rocket science...but a good write up does help, as linked to my write up in the post above this one.

Damn that looks good. Been thinking about this for a while also. Think you just sold me on it. How long did it take you to pull the bumper?

Thanks! Bumper is easy to pull. Less than an hour with the front end on jack stands! If you need help locating the fasteners that attach it, let me know and I'll message a list. Basically need to pull the front inner fender on each side, pull the radiator cover top and underneath, then it's about 7 bolts if you can just unplug you're fogs!

I'm thinking it might work for the lower rear quarter panels on track day, instead of the blue painter's tape most people use. Just spray it on and then peel it off when you get home.
