I suggest you perform paint correction first then do the touchups. Nanoskin is an easier and faster alternative to claying...

Just for some clarification, by paint correction, do you mean just applying a compound then touch up, or going all the way through with the sealant/PA Coat, and then applying the touch up?

Sounds good. Are color-matched paint pens my best "cheap" option for filling in chips? I'll have to look, but I would imagine you can get clear coat pens as well.

I've looked at this site a few times:

http://www.automotivetouchup.com/index1.htm

not sure how good they are, but they seem to have some elaborate systems.

Paint correction is defined as removing swirls using a compound/polish. So yes I would do that first. Otherwise, as soon as you hit the touch up area with a compound, say goodbye to the touch up paint. As me how I know :buffer:

Just finished the pa primer and cosmic sat , looks better than when i got it new. Thanks to 28one for product selection including the flex and bp and smaller pads. Much easier to control than the supplied bp and pad size. Not bad for a first timer!!!!

Excellent work! What did you think of the whole process? As Cosmic cures over the course of the week, should become more glossy...

It was a labor of love Citrus wash,ironx,2nd wash, clay bar was 4hrs Then remove tails and brake light and tape about 1 hr. It took me 5hrs to do the primer (but this was my first time!) then 4hrs to do 2 coats of cosmic. The wifes a little jelly it looks better than her brand new white vw cc. I have to switch to the nano skin to save some time.

My turn!

I'll have to take pictures in the next couple of days with a better camera. Cell phones don't do too well in low light situations. Still, it is looking much better than before, aside from the paint chips that are sticking out now that the swirls have been cleared :(.

Also, I was a little mad this morning when I opened the garage door, and it decided to drip water onto the car (didn't know it poured last night) :/. Luckily it was just about 6 hours since I finished the 2nd coat, and I tried, nice and easy, to get the water off.

Yes its very easy to find the rock chips and flaws as 28one mentioned The polish will help me learn in the future what needs to be corrected out first. Its a learning experience where we should improve as we go.

It took me about 3-4 days just because of having to bounce the schedule around work. If I had Friday to Sunday off from work, I would have had it done quicker.

It is good cardio too when it is warmer outside. :)

Im wondering if after the polishing primer is complete if there a certain time frame the cosmic needs to be applied I would have like to break that up into 2 separate SHORTER days

Cosmic needs to be applied within 8 hrs after removing Primer.

Kinda why I recommended doing the washing, decon, claying, and paint correction on one day, then save the second day for Primer and Cosmic

Ultrakla$$ic has me motivated to do mine. I also have a race red gt. If I get half the shine he has I'd he happy.

Not a full correction. I think the primer will work fine.
my biggest hang up is that I have matte black stripes that I would love to remove apply the polish angel and the have them installed again.

How much was it to apply the stripes? Yeah, if they need replacing, now would be the time to apply Cosmic to the whole car otherwise tape off the vinyl...
