A friend races a 72 Ford Courier pickup that goes 137 in the quarter (10.30's). Blew a rear caliper after crossing the finish line. Luckily we were at Norwalk which has a long shut down. He was able to coast it to the pit. If it had been a track with a short shutdown, he'd have wanted that chute.

That's what I meant by "if you wait until you need it, it's too late".

I haven't researched the fire suppression yet but my inclination is yes when I start using the bottle. I had a serious nitrous backfire once that broke the windshield and made the hood look like a banana and was very lucky there was no fire afterwards.

As far as the chute, I am not saying I am not going to put one on---I am just saying I am going to wait and see what the motor makes to see what a realistic mph in the 1/4 will be. Right now I really don't know, it could be 145, it could be 160. Obviously if its 150 I will be putting one on.

But with 4.10s, if I switch to a 30 tall tire the car will be at 157 mph at 7000 rpm. I don't think the motor will turn much more then that because of the 4.500 stroke---but I could be wrong. If it spins to 7500 rpm then that will make a huge difference. I just don't know what to expect right now so I am going to wait until I get more information--thats all I am saying.

Awesome build, we are running a 600 cubic inch big block our selves, but it's in our 2002 chassis car. It goes through the traps at 8500 with two stages of juice on it :thumb2: Last week end we went 6.87 at 203 mph. We run nhra division 5 top sportsman. We actually have a very small engine compared to majority of the field out there, our Ford keeps taking a beating time after time! On motor alone aside from the nitrous she traps at 7800 rpms, runs 7.90's in the heat and high six's on the juice. I know they are two toatlly differnt cars but that is some Idea rpm wise. I will say, it took 5 converters to get one to work right with our set up, we are also running a power glide though.

Thats awesome. I am thinking I will be somewhat limited as I went with some mild P-51 heads (when compared to a C head for example), so I am thinking the heads are just not going to have enough flow to feed a 572 much more then 7000---but time will tell.

What cylinder head do you run?

Oh, I will be running a PG also, just haven't updated my sig. I decided on a PG since I will eventually be using a single plate N20 system with a 200 shot or so.

The pg is really the best way to go, they can be built to handle anything, and they are also extreamly cheap to go through, available parts are never ending for these trannys lol. On motor we are making 1262 horspower and when running one stage we run a 350 shot, and on two stages we use 350 on the first and 250 on the second.

Ah, that explains how you can make big power at such high rpm. Those things can flow 580+ cfm---compared to worked P-51s that flow 430cfm and a good C head that can flow 500.

Are you guys running dual dominators on a sheet metal intake? I will be running a single Pro Systems dominator that is 1250+ cfm

Running a single apd 1250 d carb, with a thor intake to match the heads. We where going to go the sheet metal intake route, but we have so much time in plumbing the fogger set up on the thor intake. We'll try one next year. We weighed in 250 lbs heavy last weekend, so we need to shed weight lol, we are the small motor/heavy weight car of top sportsman lol. Some how where keeping up.........

Got my Strange Double Adjustable coil overs. I won't know exactly what spring I will eventually end up running, depending on when I weigh the car, but probably 130lb or so. I was playing with the stance with my current tires which are 29 tall, I may end up going with a 30 tall tire.

The last two pictures are a comparison with how I used to run it to how it is sitting now.

My ignition parts came in today. Going to wire the car this weekend. Ugh I am dreading this, electrical is not my strong suit.

On the bright side, the shortblock should be finished next Friday, and the engine should be on the dyno the Friday after that. I will have engine dyno vids for sure.

I will know for sure when the engine hits the dyno, but I am figuring about an 8 degree retard when the 200 shot is engaged. 4200 launch rpm might be a little low, and the 8000 limiter may be too high--will know for sure after the dyno session.

Strange double adjustable shocks in, can't decide on what exact spring to run until the car is weighed. I think it will work pretty good as the shocks and springs are pretty much where a 4 link setup would have them.

Mounting the ignition box next, and the wiring, ugh. Yesterday I converted the hood to a lift off---got rid of the hinges and the stock hood latch and installed two more hood pins on custom brackets I made. I like a lift off hood better as it is much easier to work on the car.
