Likely gonna be easiest to use 2010 GT electronics and wiring harness and have the VCT disabled in the tune. You'll need a custom tune anyway.

I put a 5.4 4v in my 2009 this year and i used the stock 3v ecu. Please don't do a coyote that's boring.

The Coyote is a great engine, and @mattjames plug n play harnesses have made it an easy swap. The problem is that so many people have done it that it isn't special anymore.
IMO Ford already gave the 05-10 GT a really good engine in the shape of the 4.6 3V despite the naysayers, and it's easy enough to build it into a great engine capable of 1000+hp.

The 5.4 2v is heavy, underpowered and gets terrible fuel mileage. Your car would be faster with the 6 banger currently in it. I agree with others here, the Coyote is your best and easiest upgrade. An instant 400+ horses.

why not a 289 or 302 with a mechanical fuel pump, carb, vic jr and ported tfs heads

Shift it at 7000

In theory, you could use the existing pcm, IF it had all 8 coil and injector drivers in it, and did an OS swap. Lots of if's and maybe's. Using a GT pcm from same year as stated above, would be my choice.
5.4 2v's are good engines, basic. No vct to worry about. They make good torque, thats what's in my tow vehicle.
Coyote swap boring? Fuck off asshole. Let me guess, you do LS swaps? lmao

Interesting, what kind of electrical/physical/tune changes did you have to make to get it to run properly? Have any pics you can post?

nothing beats a carbed small block - I'm building a few before IC engine parts are banned here in 2035!

You can read the first sentence of my message to answer your own question, and why so pressed about an opinion? Coyote swaps in an s197 is boring, they come with that from factory. A built 4.6 3v would be cooler imo, and a 5.4 2v is super weird and I love it.
