Quality of Saleen replacement parts

My 2007 Saleen was involved in an accident in my driveway. At 5:00 am almost 2 months ago, some drug infested, lunatic woman was travelling down our street, side swiped the neighbor's Saturn (that was parked in the St.), paniced and insted of hitting the brakes, she hit the gas (full throttle) headed right for our driveway. She my girlfriend's Explorer so hard, it picked up the SUV and threw it sideways into the Saleen's rear and left rear quarter panel, then the car came forward and contacted the house damaging the front fascia.
We waited 5 weeks for the rear bumper from Saleen, the center rear spoiler is 3/8 ths longer than factory, the inside support is made from some cheap, flimsy plastic material (we decided to re-use the original). With the center section too long, this pushes the end sections of the 3 piece rear spoiler out to far to where they don't meet up with the quarter panels flush. Not sure what to do now, all the parts were painted and ready for assembly. The front facia lines up perfectly but the rear section is not going to look as good as it did with these replacement parts.

The parts from Saleen are the same as what was originally on the car. I am surprised the body shop didn't test fit the parts before painting them.

That stinks and truth is this type of deal is my biggest concern about owning my Saleen.

The rear 3 piece spoiler is not the same, the center section is wider than the trunk now and all the mounting hardware is not insulated with rubber washers either.

I would not assume that the parts are the same anymore. i don't know this for a fact but I was told by a vendor that the manufacturer of the carbon fiber splitter and diffuser is different now.. I have some of their pieces and they are not the same design as the originals.

I really don't know what has changed obviously. I have read stories for years about Saleen stuff being tough to fit. My only experience with them directly is my car now. I'd try on the Saleen forum. Very little traffic but there are guys who are connected to Saleen that seem to be able to get answers.

When we used to be a Saleen dealer, we ran into this issue quite a bit. Between replacing parts under warranty that were ill-fitting or finding anything that is a specific Saleen part, it was never an easy task. I love those cars, but it is a caveat of owning one.

Like mentioned above, I would scan the Saleen forum and even eBay for parts.

I'll try to call them tomorrow, perhaps they can send me the center section of the spoiler and it will be the correct length this time. I wasn't sure if others have run into this but it looks like they have.

Let me know if you get one that fits. I assume you're talking about the decklid extension piece? Mine is cracked on the corners, I assume the previous owner tried to tighten the screws too much.

I believe the orginal Saleen parts (the ones that came on your car) were manufactured by a different company so there will be fitment issues.

I bought a full kit from Saleen a while back and the fitment was very poor and required a lot of adjustments.

Also following the instructions some of the parts where not identical. Like my center spoiler did not have any attachments in the middle just two bolts on each ends.

Also it didn't have the cut outs for the lic. plate light either.

Oh I wanted to especially after she begged me not to call the cops and followed me into my house, I had to tell her to, "Get the f*** out of my house, right now". When I asked the officer to give her a sobriety test, he got nasty with me. He had no idea if how much of a crackhead she is.

Called Saleen today, told them about the legth being too long for the center section, he asked if I recieved instructions, I said, "No but we did download the instructions from the website". He asked if we heated the plastic first, we didn't. I never heard of this method to be done first and this is supposed to shrink the plastic. They agreed to send us another one free of charge. Has anyone heated brand new Saleen panels first before they prepped and painted them ?

Good luck, man. That is my one big dread if I ever get in an accident. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Saleen stays solvent and gets their parts department back up to snuff.

Update: Saleen sent me another center section rear spoiler extension and it is too wide also. So I took them to a buddy that works at Ford and he heated the painted and the new unpainted center sections in the booth at 150° for 30 mins. The length remained the same, it did not shrink at all like they claimed it would.The material is too thin on the sides to shave it, I guess all I can do is move the right and left quarter extensions over a little but it will not fit as well as it did new. I don't know what else to do.

First off... Sorry to hear about your Saleen and the stressful situation.

My body/paint Guy did for mine. Placed into booth and fired it up, the Material "sweats" for lack of a better term. They then wiped it down using solvents. I did not test fit the parts prior to prep and paint. No issues. I gave him the Saleen paint instructions manual for prep prior to color.
