That looks like a Traxxas Nitro 4-Tec judging by the electric starting system. or someone shoe horned a TRX engine and EZ start into it. Speed is 50+MPH but seriously unless your on a flat surface that thing is impossible to control

I have a good amount of experience with those. when I was into those this is what i had:

3 Traxxas T-Maxx
1 Traxxas Nitro Sport
2 Traxxas Nitro 4-Tec
1 HPI Nitro Sport
1 HPI Nitro MT

2 of the three T-maxxes recieved engine swaps, the Nitro mT recieved a complete makeover. new chassis, new shock towers, new suspension, new transmission new engine. that thing was a beast.

but im 99% sure that is a Traxxas Nitro 4-Tec, looks like a first generation with the TRX Pro .15 Engine.

I have been into nitro RC's for about 20 years. I love messing with them. Honestly I like rebuilding/repairing them more than running them. I am mostly into Traxxas trucks and cars. I have probably owned over 200 of them in the last three years. I even sell on Ebay but haven't lately (mattsrcfun). I haven't had the time. I have a nice Revo sitting on my work table now as I type this that is almost done. I also have another Revo in the breeseway that I just need to do some fine tuning on and it will be ready to sell. I love to beat on them. I have a jump that we take to a ballfield and see how high we can jump them. Great time. I also have some electrics that I run with my grandkids from time to time. Couple of them are 1/16th E-Revo's with brushless motors. They fly and are a great time.

Just another hobby with a motor!!

I couldn't stand my T-maxx I had with gas. PITA to keep running right, so now i'm rocking the 4wd electric stadium truck. A friend of mine put a track in at his house, so I need to get out there for some practice. Plan on trying to do a few races this year at the local track.

i have a jato 3.3 and a revo but the jato the only one runnin now and that thing on the street is insane my neibor behind me is buildin a track cant wait till its dun the revo was to big for it wouldnt turn for shit but the jato seems to do good.hes got a 2wd slash and that thing handles like a dream might look into gettin one and sell the revo chassis

I have a Traxxas T-Maxx 3.3 and it is a blast to drive. I have tried everything on this truck. I am on my 11th engine in 3 years on it. I have tried the RB Innovations Supercharger, nitrous, and a combination of them both. The motor on it now has a modified head, sleeve, and piston in it running a higher compression. I have used radar to check speed and it runs in the high 60's to low 70's mph. The only problem is the tires blow apart pretty easy at those speeds.

My newest toy is a Traxxas Slash 4x4 Ultimate with a Mamba motor. With a 6s LiPo it runs somewhere in the neighborhood of 70 mph when it doesn't flip over. When I go racing I throw the motor came with it and go tear it up. The Vilineon system that comes on them is plenty fun with a 3S LiPo also.

Lately I've been working on making a 100mph nitro car, the gearing is there I just need the space lol custom pulleys all around.
The gearing is good for 111mph (math wide) but the amount of time it will take to get there will be a problem I am considering making it two speed now.

T-Maxx's are a ball. That is one fast one!! For my money, the Revo is a little better truck. It is more durable and will take a beating. I have had probably over 50 Revo's and close to that on the T-Maxx's. Both are a ball but I am more into beating the crap out of them so the Revo holds up better for me.

I don't know how you keep the Slash on four wheels at those speeds. I have had many Slayer's (basically the same as the Slash just nitro) and they are a pain to keep upright on the road. They are fun in the dirt but really they are just a Revo with a shrunk suspension.

Yes, go two speed. There are many two speed road cars out there. Traxxas 4-Tec is one. It will do 70+mph right out of the box. If you were to put that big RB on one, it would probably get you close with the right gearing. Good luck!

I've had about 10 different nitro's (Savages, Cen, couple buggies) and a bunch of electrics. I used to race electric stadium trucks (Losi Jrx-T, XX-T, and XXX-T's), but got out of it a lot of years ago. I still have all my stuff.

Lately I've been more into rock crawlers (scale). Less broken parts, longer battery life, can do it just about anywhere.

I like the idea of a 100 mph rc car, but I think it's going to be quite a challenge. Anything over about 70 mph and you're going to be fighting aerodynamics issues along with suspension issues. To keep the car from trying to fly you'll need downforce which may max the suspension and make the car unstable, and a lexan body won't take 100 mph either. With the additional downforce (weight) you'll need more hp. It'll become a vicious circle of more of everything until you hit the limit of the chassis and can't go any further.

Yep. CR-01. Great rig. It's still mostly stock and I've had zero issues with it other than leaky shocks.

Just ran across this thread, and what a coincidence. I built an old RC10 electric years ago and hated it from the moment I got it together. Tons of money into upgrades, batteries, etc. and I would get about 8 minutes of run time. I know things have taken huge leaps in technology, but I just can't bring myself to run an electric again.

So, I'm looking at buying a nitro 2wd truck for 90% pavement running. The new Jato seems like a front runner, but I'm worried about having a finicky little monster. Just weighing options right now - any input?

ROAR just killed the nitro 2wd class from what I understand. If you don't plan on running any races, then it is a good choice. Especially since most local hobby shops sell Traxxas parts. If you think you may race in the future, then 1/8 buggy or truggy is the way to go. At my local track it seems like the truggy class is the most popular followed by the stadium trucks (Traxxas Slash). Seems like the buggies dropped off for some reason.

Thats the fun of Nitro engines! The Jato is really fast truck from what I understand. Traxxas makes great R/Cs I would love to get back into it but I would rather put my money elsewhere hahaha. The Jato top speed is around 65MPH I believe, ive had R/Cs that went that fast, and they are alot harder to control over 55+ if top speed is not that big of a concern, I would look at the Traxxas Nitro Rustler

Have this little guy ive had it for about a year. Hauls A55!! but havent driven in it in a few weeks. Been trying to sell it to buy mods for the stang but not much of a market for these. So i guess ill just buy an SVT Raptor body for it and beat it to death.
