Hey guys .
Getting into the gears and I'm at a loss here .
I cannot get this pinion out of the housing to save my life..
I've tried pb blaster.
I've tried heat.
I've tried all three and a 5lb sledge and I can't get it..
I did however manage to mushroom the shaft from hitting it so hard .
So can anyone leave me on some insight as to what to do next?
Thanks guys

I've seen races rust to the pinion. Spray some PB on there, let it soak. An air chisel with a point is also an option (may need to clean up those threads lol) Need a big BFH, and need to keep at it. Of all the gears I've done, only ONE was like that. You could also try heating the inner race of the pinion bearing.

Can you attach a slide hammer or puller to that pinion?

Possibly add some heat too?

When using heat, you have to heat the bearing race without heating the pinion shaft. Very difficult to do. The best bet would would be oxy/acetylene torch (very hot) with a cutting tip. This could heat the race rapidly and make it expand before the pinion shaft heat sinks and expands with it. Get one spot on the race to glow and strike the pinion strongly.
If the pinion and race have gauld together and welded you may have to cut it out with the touch.

Yea, splines look funky, but that was not keeping the bearing stuck.
