I really do not want one but I am having a issue with the sun baking my son in the back seat. Saturday we had an open house and both him and I got to much sun. So Sunday we had a couple places to go and since my Durango was still loaded with stuff we had to take the car. We didnt get real far and my son was complaining he didnt feel well. I looked back and no matter how he moved he was getting baked . I luckly had one of those sun screens for the front window in the trunk and we managed to use it to block out the back window.
Anyway sorry for the story but it is a real issue. I looked at the louvers and I really would hate to drop that much on one but going to have to figure somthing out. So aluminum black? plastic leave black? or plastic painted silver to match car? or any other suggestions? We wanted to take some longer trips later this summer but the sun has been a issue on short trips.

Do not get the plastic ones. They're cheap because they're cheap.

Ditto, they will sag in the middle.

Tint the rear window is the first order of business. You can get your whole car tinted from around $150. It will look nice, keep your car cooler, and prolong the life of your interior.

Yup, tint and there are no problems with the defrost units and tint. Just have to be careful if the tint is ever removed.

I have the plastic ones from the factory and mine don't sag....

I had the rear window tinted and have not had any issues.

Really?
Glad to hear they are holding up!

I didn't buy the plastic one's because all the pics I saw with them after a few years they looked like they sagged. If I ever buy them again, I'll definitely look up the plastic ones. The aluminum ones scratch too easily!

And yes, you can tint over the defrosters, just be careful if you ever remove the tint. You can rip the wires.

Mine are different than the ones one can buy from SHR, not sure where Ford gets their louvers from, maybe that's the difference?

mine are the aluminum ones...they are TOTALLY worth it. I was unsure if I was going to keep them on until summer hit. They are fully functional and keep my car from ever getting baked from the sun. I'd recommend them.

I have the aluminum. I like them. I think they look good but most of the people on this site aren't a fan. I also have 35% tint on rear and side windows.

+1 on aluminum louvers. I think they look great. Not many have them and keeps the sun at bay.
Still a few friends try to trash talk em. Haters gonna hate
Louvers + tint= even better

+1 on the aluminum louvers from me too. I got the hinged MRT rear louver and its a little expensive but it was totally worth it. As the saying goes, "you get what you pay for".

Ask around your area? We don't know your location, so where are you :)

I moved up to this area ( Midland Mi) a couple years ago. So between not growing up around here and with not working I only know a couple people in this area. So needless to say it sucks when you need stuff done. I have been putting together a list of go to places for different things but as far as window tinting I have no idea where to go and where to stay away from.
