I've had SPLIT TAILS in my Mustang, but never Red Tails. Guess I'm gonna try for Red Split tails next. LOL!!:lol2:

They already did a P-51, just not a red tail. The best Mustang with an aircraft theme was the SR-71 car, IMO. Totally badass.

I'll be seeing that next month. Those are usually really nice cars. The Blue Angel car was pretty cool with its mirror paint finish.

That is cool, and like mentioned the P-51 was the inspiration for naming these Mustangs.

However, and I'd guess most here know all this...the P-51's a Chevy w/a Limey motor.

Built by North American, which @ the time was a subsidiary of GM, and powered (not by design, either) one hell of a motor, the Rolls Royce Merlin (although I think most of them were built on conseignment by Packard).

Real cool story behind the developement of that plane, the 'D' version arguably the finest piston engine fighter ever built, and it was done so in a remarkable short period of time.

Chuck Yeager shot down an ME-262 in one (twin engine German jet fighter), but he takes little credit for it as it was either taking off or landing when he did (they were ~ 100mph faster then the Mustang).

I am of the opinion that it's gonna look stupid. It might just be the rendering, but that's how I feel. The paint scheme is completely uninspired, the wheel selection sucks, and there's no body mods except for that ghetto spoiler.

I'd like the car a lot better if they had done some sectional rivets with the paint. Just too plain and smooth looking to be dedicated to the muscular P-51 IMO.

I've never been fond of "design by decal" theme cars...done to only increase sales by visuals.

If it doesn't improve performance...worthless to me.

Agreed....even better would be rivets and polished body similar to many of the mustangs that are still flying today.

It's a "one off" done for charity. They usually sell for around a half mil.
