Anyone have any experience using remote starters on this cars? Which one should I buy and which ones should I just skip ?

I'm not interested in a complete alarm system, just the starter.

Thanks

I am a big fan of the clifford stuff. Especially for a manual transmission or a turbo car (built in turbo timer). The only problem is your really need an authorized clifford installer. They are about the hardest alarm/remote start systems to install.

My girlfriend also runs the Clifford product. Its from DEI which are all the same products (Clifford, Viper, Python, etc.). She has a full alarm system and I like it. The onlly thing that sucks about it is that if you run out of battery in your remote it kinda sucks cause you'll either have to get a new battery or drive around with a blasting alarm ( couldn't find the override button which is probably a good thing).

I have a remote starter that the ford offers and they installed it. I like it. But if you were wanting to go all out id get a viper.

Have a Viper in mine. It works great but it is the full alarm, not just the remote start. As others have stated, Clifford/Viper/Python are all made by the same company.

I would go with the ford piece. A remote start on these cars will have to be programmed with the key code in order to keep the pats from overriding it. I used to install them so I know how much of a headache they can be to get right.

I had this installed about 3.5 years ago http://www.drdetailshop.com/V771XV.htm

It's great... what else can I say.. the only thing you have to get is a little box for another key that is programmed to the car and that gets wired in. Keys are cheap, cutting it is cheap, programming the new key is free (diy, instructions are in the manual).

The cliffords have some kind of protection. I think it is some kind of sequence you have to do to activate the remote start before you turn the car off, but I know that true morons can still get the car in gear afterward, and try to start it. Most shops wont install it on a manual, and the dealers simply will not. I found this today too. Looks cool, but very expensive, and since it uses the internet, you could accidentally start you car while youre no where near it. http://www.viper.com/smartstart/

Most places will refuse as stated. However it can be done on a manual car. The sequences involve setting the e brake and the car actually gets shut down by the alarm. For instance the omega alarms require you to set the ebrake with the car running. Then you arm the alarm and take the key out. The alarm keeps the car running and you take the key out and exit. When the door shuts the alarm locks the door and kills the ignition. This is the only way to start the car remotley as it insures that you exit the vehicle with the car still running in neutral.

:LMAO: I wondered the same thing, just never heard it put that blatantly.. My friend has one he got from Best Buy that works great. It was like 400 or so. But his is on an auto. I guess we can't get one for stick cars. Damn...

The Viper SmartStart is a pretty cool idea, especially since I have an iphone. Only problems are the price ($499), what if I get a new phone, this becomes useless. Also there seems to be no code on the program, so if someone gets my phone I'm fucked. Hmm..
