Removing fuel evap canister

I left both the lines at the tank open to air. They need to be open to allow the tank to vent.
Most importantly I left them like that for a week in closed garage while I was on vacation and came back to no ZERO gas smell. Some had said it would smell if you do this. NOPE. No issues. I had CEL and my tuner turned them off.

Both vents ?

With the cap on the tank should still have pressure since the vent goes into the neck pre-cap. The same as when you take the cap of and the air air comes out. If I am thinking wroung about this then someone please let me know. Either way it will stay the same , I just need to know how fast to get out if it goes upside down . The way I have it , it would be the same as the stock filler tube and the gas that would go to it .

I dont know if you did a search on this topic or not but one of the other threads explains in detail another member eye witness of a check valve in the tank attached to at least one of the lines...

Let's be real - in that situation, it is highly likely you could have some fuel spillage if the car was 100% bone stock.

If you are worried about rolling over you car - I would suggest you keep it on the street and not take it offroad...

I cant imagine how this would effect gas mileage unless the port was left open on the side of the intake.
I know a few people that had done it before I did and it did not affect theirs...I dont know..

^Right on thanks, that helps a lot. I looked at a few of those pics last night, but I wasn't too sure what exactly I was looking at. Now it makes some sense.
So what about the evap pieces in the engine bay and the lines running to them? Did you remove those as well? Is it necessary to?
As for the vent to the filler pipe, without it I'll be fighting to get fuel into the tank forever right? Does it have to be vented to that pipe or can it just be vented to the atmosphere with a breather attached? Thanks again for the link.

I removed everything . Do you have to , no. I vented the tank like I did because I didn't want the fumes under the car . I think others have done that but , I'm not taking chances with gas fumes under the car . The way I did it makes it like all gas tanks were vented for years before the EPA took car makers by the balls. Like this the air in the tank can vent out the filler cap while you fuel the car.

Sorry to bring this back from the dead. So, I completely pulled all my evap equipment and everything's working great except for one thing: filling the tank. I can get about a 1/4 gallon in before the pump shuts off. I have a standard fuel breather valve from Autozone (like this: http://www.autozone.com/autozone/ac.../_/N-25xf?counter=2&itemIdentifier=309739_0_0_ on the passenger side tube for venting.

What breather are you guys running that's allow you to fill normally?
