Hi all,
I have long-tube headers, catted x-pipes and Borla S-Type mufflers on my 3v GT. I love the way it sounds, but the drone at 5th gear highway speeds, around 1,700rpm, can be brutal on longer trips and makes conversation in the cabin difficult. I want to retain the current exhaust sound as much as possible but cut out the drone and maybe quiet it down a couple decibels. What are your suggestions for resonators that could achieve this goal?

Thanks! :D

I welded in a couple of old school cherry bombs right before the rear axle. It's been suggested that you install them staggered.

I have these mid mounted on my over axle pipes.

I have LTs, catted X and muffler deletes otherwise and it is my favorite exhaust set up to date, though mine still drones right around 2K RPMs.

The 1792s might tone it down a bit too much since you have the stingers but YMMV. But it’s honestly hard to pull the drone out of the Borla’s. An H pipe may also help a bit vs the X.

If someone could get Ford Racing to bring back the FR500s/KR mufflers, that’s the ultimate fix for a loud exhaust with no drone.

I had the same issue with LT's, and a catted H. and FRPP FRS-500 mufflers on my 2010 GT auto and small Roush M90 blower. Welded in a pair of pypes (made from 304-SS) M80's just before the rear axle..... problem solved.

Before, it was too loud, and drone at 2k rpm. Bought em years ago from AM. At the time they were cheap at $44.00 each.
