Retrofit ideas from late S197 into early S197?

Hey everyone! New to the forums here!
BEFORE ANYTHING: If you love the early S197 interior, don’t read! :p

I love the interior of the 2010-2014 mustang, and have wondered just how many things are replaceable/adjustable to install in my ‘07. So far, Ive got the steering wheel and that’s about it, however I’d like to see if anyone’s done anything more in their early S197 besides these. I remember reading some threads about people putting the 2010-2012 automatic shifter into their 05-09, but I thought it looked kind of ugly, and honestly, I’d rather replace the whole console instead. As I mentioned, I am in love with that sleek 10-14 interior, and aside from ripping apart every little piece of wiring in my car, i’m willing to seriously adjust some stuff to make it feel more modern. If you have any ideas or suggestions or even mentions of things you might have done to your early S197, lemme know! I’m so interested in seeing what others have done! Thanks guys!!!

TLDR: I am interested in updating my dated 07 mustang interior to something that may resemble the late S197 interiors. I’ve done the steering wheel and that’s about it. If you have any cool suggestions, lemme know!

I have seen the 2010+ door panels installed on the 05-09 and modern S550 seats retrofitted too.

Where there is a will, there is a way...

I've seen that too, apparently they fit pretty darn well, I've been wondering about the seat situation, seems pretty hard to do but man I'd like them!

I have actually done the opposite , my base 2010 mustang came with a super cheap foam steering wheel that would fall apart just by looking at it, I took a trip to my local Pick N Pull and found a nice steering wheel off an 08 mustang, was in excellent condition, so I bought it.

I installed it and almost instantly made the interior poped, I only had to transfer the original LED lights to the new steering wheel since the green was a tad different

oh wow! good idea, it sucks, because technically you’d have to go through all the hassle to get a newer audio-controlled steering wheel, the same as the 05-09’s just because you don’t have the right harness

I am switching the dash, console and seats from a 2012 into my 07. Mostly because I am also switching the entire drivetrain from the 12 into my 07. I already have swapped the parking brake handle and the complete wiring harness, working the HVAC now. The firewall will need a slight modification. Anyway, making some progress but slowly...

Amazing switch, would think almost impossible. Seeing is believing though and by looks of garage (well stocked) will pull it off.

Always leaves me flabbergasted what all lies beneath the creature comforts.

No, didn’t mean that at all, mine is a complete cluster. I can just picture much similar work already done on projects with saving many useful items. And you know where everything is, even finding purpose for things after keeping 20 years even for your Mustang project.

I’m just playing. My garage is full of leftover stuff from many projects and I have three sons who are all into cars so not only do I have stuff here but they do too. None of them have a garage so everything is at my house!!!

The 2011-2014 GT (Non Brembo) brake upgrade....
Uses your caliper, the 2011-2014 GT front caliper brackets and the front rotors from the 2011-2014.
That will give you a upgrade from the 12.4 inch rotors on the 2005-2010 GT cars to a 13.2 inch front rotor for better braking..... the calipers itself and the pads are the same as 2005-2010 GT...it is just a bigger rotor and a caliper bracket to clear the rotors.... easy as that.
If installed on a 05-10 4.0.... it is an upgrade from a 11.8 inch rotor to a 13.2 inch...

I wish I would have known this three weeks ago when I did front brakes on my 05' GT! This info needs to be made into a sticky for quick reference.
