What we will do is break track discussion & timeslips into a couple subgroups under that forum. One specific to drag racing, and one to road racing. The primary track discussion & timeslips can be for just posting times.:thumb:

What master cylinder do you run? Reading that article it doesn't address it so I assumed a GT M/C would be sufficient but now that I've installed my GT500 brakes, I can put the pedal to the firewall without an excessive amount of effort. I've bled the front circuit twice after installation and then a third time when I did all four corners yesterday so I'm pretty confident there's no air in the system..

More Brake Tech

Thanks for the info...and the info in that link should be a sticky (if we had more corner carvers here..)!

Looks like for street use the GT500 setup will work well enough but won't utilize the full braking capability. For my use however I think I'll eventually want to step up to the GT500 HCU and ABS computer. Now I just gotta find someone who wrecked theirs...

FYI on the GT500 ECU/HCU swap in a GT I've been told you will lose you Traction Control.

I've got the same "soft" pedal, talked to Ford and they said that was normal with the GT500 stuff on the GT. They seemed to be more concerned about the brakes being feeling a bit grabby than having a soft pedal.

I got four track days on the car with the GT500 brakes and FR500S ECU/HUC and although the pedal feels soft, I have not run out of brakes running the 3.7 course at Sebring. I can really brake latter when going into a turn but I have to get braver and carry more speed into those turns!

I guess the Master Cylinder on the GT just may be at near its limit when installing a larger caliper. The larger caliper requires more fluid volume, more fluid volume equals longer pedal travel, so that means less fluid in reserve and that equals the soft feel of the brakes.

Next week I'm going to have the GT500 Master Cylinder and Brake Booster installed.

I'll stop by after the install and let you know if there is an improvement.

Here's more on the brakes in a different tread.

I took my car into the dealer this morning to bleed and cycle the GT500 ABS unit I swapped in. They bled it OK but they were getting codes for the traction control (expected) but they were also saying "things aren't communicating properly" so they spent an additional 120 of my dollars trying to figure it out (no dice). They seemed unclear if it was just the TC affected or ABS as well. Any input on this?? I've got a track day coming up next week but don't want to take it out in an unsafe/unstable condition..

Edit: Looks like the only thing affected from the HCU/Module swap was traction control. The TC button is in a constant state of "OFF" now and the light is on in the cluster. It does throw a code (I forget which one), but it is TC related only, not ABS. So should anyone else happen to have this happen, don't have your dealer waste any time trying to fix TC related issues; that effectively doubled the cost of what should have been a simple $130 brake bleed/HCU purge...

My TC is turned off in the tune. Its better and safer that way. If the TC is turned off in the tune though I don't think should be throwing any codes.
