seems a bit high IMO, mine Vortech idles around 750-800

thats the number he said he's used to seeing but at the 800 number she will just choke until i get on her, open the throttle and keep her warm.

I asked him what the harm could be from idling at 1k and he said nothing really.

Sounds like a tune issue, possibly idle airflow or spark settings. I have a P1SC-1 HO kit I bought used from a member here for my 09 and had a friend who owns a shop send me an sct sf3 with a base tune. After uploading the base tune I did the fine tuning with HPTuners myself. Never really ran into any startup issues though, before or after calibrating idle airflow. If I get a chance later I'll compare my stock tune to my current one and see if what idle settings were changed.

my car idles at like 800 with no hiccups. That is, when it is actually running. The batter is dead again- for like the 8th time since i've had the car.

yup.. I got around to installing a Battery Tender which I had for at least a year. I keep the car outside so I never really wanted to deal with the wire being exposed. But, this battery issue is becoming so friggin tedious. I put it on there saturday night, and checked last night- battery was not charged. I checked the instruction manual for the tender, and apparently it wont charge the battery if its TOO weak. The battery is about 16 months old.... Im hoping its not the alternator. The car is not under warranty... where can I get an alternator for this car?? it looks pretty easy to change, but now I have to deal with the procharger piping!!!!!
