I was anticipating a camber plate so i cut the holes in the top of the strut towers out a bit bigger. This is with the camber plates maxed out to negative(just for bolting on for now). Im glad i enlarged the hole or i wouldnt have had clearance, but it was an easy job with the right size holesaw...

I've joked to myself about doing something like that, but I figured 3.5 degrees should be plenty for anything unless I wanted the wheels to be able to fold up under the car for time travel purposes.. haha. j/k. What kinda camber specs are you planning on running up there? I'm running -2.75 with a good bit of room to spare with "unmodified" towers. Also, what spring rates did you order with your kit?

I havent read much of the thread;

but it seems like an auto wouldnt be ideal for a drift car? pardon my lack of knowledge on the subject.

Quick question.. I might have missed it if you already posted.. what are you doing with the stock 3v??

Also, this build is awesome. You should bring it down to texas when its finished to hit up some of our events.. Lone star bash is three weeks away.. think you could make it?? lol

Ha, i wish i could come down and hang with Stew, Russell, Aaron and all the texas home boys, but no way the car will be done in time. id be lucky to make ECB.

I have not aligned the car yet but plan on setting the camber somewhere around -2.5 or so to start. Springs are what came with the kit which are 10kg front and 6kg rear. I have some extras to play with as well.

Hey Brian, when you get a chance can you give me the complete rundown on your strut tower modification for camber plates? I just got some new camber plates and that mod will definately make using them a lot easier. Thanks

I just cut them out with a hole saw. If you look up into the strut tower from the bottom it has a ring in there. I grabbed a hole saw that fit well inside of it and started drilling. Then i just deburred it. bing bang boom.

Just an FYI, unless you want -5 degrees, it really isn't neccessary with Max Motorsports or KW's plates. Not talking smack, just sayin.

i'm running BC racing coilovers which use a different camber plate design so cutting it out gives better access to the adjustment screws and will make it easier to adjust. not to run recockulous amounts of camber.

petie, most camber plates like that allow you to move the allen bolts that tighten the 2 plates... like you could move the one pair closer to the other if need be. ... in case you dont already have them or installed or whatever. you can normally get away with doing that.

i'll try that out next week when i actually put the camber plates on, but even so it looks tight with the stock opening, not like the camber plates on my 240 which there was more than enough room to get to the allen bolts.

Here's another little update...

I decided to ditch the stock gas tank idea. It was just gonna be a pain to still run a level sender, baffle it, vent it and run AN lines to it with how tight it fits to the car. So, i got myself a fuel cell. Luckily i sold the intake manifold off my old race motor or i would have never been able to afford it.

I had to cut the "X" bar out of the trunk area i had in there in order to make this...

Its made of 1" .065 wall square tubing. Should be plenty sturdy...

Then i started working on the tin work to cover the surrounding area which is also where i will mount the swirl pot, fuel pumps, and filters. I cant wait to do that part, but i need to get 2 low pressure pumps first to feed the swirl pot.

Here it is with the tin layed up. Ill finish it up this week and probably just spray bomb the new bars i added since most of them are covered up with tin anyway...

Anddddd... i still dont have my motor, but once i get that thing its going to be a mad rush to get this car done so i can finally drive again!
