So the buyer I had set up to buy my S/C kit was a scam artist. He claimed to be in the military and needed to pay a carrier fee for shipping via money gram, stating he couldn't because he was currently deployed. He had a fake [email protected] email adress which sated that 3550 dollars was pending deposit into my PayPal account untill i showed proof of the 1050 dollar money gram being sent. Anyways I called PayPal/Google'D it and as it turns out this is a new scam.

So I emailed him stating I only have 500 dollars in my checking account and that he'll need to send me the additional 550 before i send the money gram. If he sends me the money im going to send it to the police and report the whole thing....

Thanks for the alert. FWIW many scammers use the military excuse as to why they can't pay. It's complete BS. Anytime someone uses a military excuse it will always be BS.

This is an incredibly common scam, I think it's safe to say if you have to spend money to "sell" an item to someone who has enough internet access to message you but claims to not be able to pay some fee you're about to get fucked...come on man, it's 2017.

I'm Active Duty Army and you guys said it perfectly, it's 2017, almost all places that the military deploys to will have internet and all the same capabilities as in the States, love how some people try to use the military for their "scams"
