I have searched and looked through numerous post and remain confused. I have a set of 17" bullits and would like a recommendation for a set of tires for the drag strip. A 26" tall tire I feel would be to short for my 4.10's and nitrous (nitrous install 4/8) and 27" - 28" seems to wide, so what is the appropriate tire for my application??? All help appreciated, thnx.

??? huh ??? to wide?

What are you trapping?

a 26 x 10.5 x 17 MT ET SR is a common choice that has proven effective, 4th gear and 4.10s will take you to 120 @ 6500

if your rims are 9" then the 295/45/17 ET SR II is a great option.

You can also run the MH 275/50/17 DR's if you want them to be taller (almost 28").

I ran the 275/40/17 MT DR's (26") for the past few years and they were fine. I wore them out and recently tossed them so it's time for some new track tires. I have thought about going with the taller MH's this time around since I went to 4.10's and planning to put a blower on this summer. But I def like the 26" tire for my current setup. Just may not be enough for the blower.

You don't ever want to shift past 1:1 (4th) in the 1/4th.

I thought they might be too wide for the rim. Rim width seemed to be the main issue for me as Ive been looking, to get a Rec. tire for rim width I was usually only seeing a 275/40 - 17 , wanted something taller than 25.7".

You will be fine running 275/10.5's on 17x8 wheels for the track. I, as well as many others have ran them without any issues.

Like I said before, if you feel a 26" is to short for you then you can always gets the M&H DR's in 275/50/17 which is 27.8" tall IIRC.

I run those with my 3.55's, I barely need 4th gear. Can't wait for my 3.73's.

I run a blower and 4.10's and went with the 28" MH tire. I wish I had gone with the 26", the 28" is hurting my 60'.
