I recently pulled my engine and took everything off the front to replace my timing chains on my 06 4.0L. Replaced the harmonic balancer, but everything else was original and went back on. Something is out of alignment, the car keeps eating serpentine belts. There is no play on the A/C compressor, and I think the alternator is lined up. My guess is the aftermarket balancer.
My question is, is there a way to check the alignment of the pulleys? I did notice some initial wear on the front edge of the belt (toward the front of the car).
I'm thinking of pulling the radiator hoses and intake, getting a straight-edge to line up on one inside edge of a pulley and see where it makes contact with a nearby pulley...
