I've always been a clean no-stripe kind of guy growing up so my first inclination when I bought the GT500 was to rip them off. Loved it at first, but then... I started to wonder if I had made a big mistake. Stripes are an iconic trademark on the Shelby!

It started eating away at me inside until I couldn't take it anymore and finally decided to put the stripes back on where they belong. Of course, I had to do something a little different so I went with Matte Black on Vista. I'm glad I did, it's subtle yet sinister at the same time. Enjoy and for those stripe haterz out there... come at me bro. :beerdrink:

I have to admit I loved it without the stripes but those matte stripes look pretty sweet! Nice job :thumb:

That first pic is awesome!

I think it looks great. The matte black matches the lower trim and your wheels. Now put the updated 13-14 Raxiom tail lights on and your snake will be perfect.

The matte was a great call. Matches the other parts of the car like he said. Looks great!

Love the look. Small critique though. Whoever laid out the stripes didn't account for the optical illusion of the stripes looking like they narrow and widen. Original Shelby stripes were not straight lines. Rather they widened and narrowed over the body to fool the eye into seeing them as the same width.

In the picture below you can see how it looks like it narrows as it passes over the taillight panel area. I'd bet they are exactly the same width if you measured them. But they don't look like they are.

Thanks everyone! I really like how it came out. Glad it was a spot on the first time around, these stripes were a PITA to install and weren't cheap, lol.

Thanks and I appreciate the critique! I actually laid out the stripes myself (after hours upon hours of research and studying technique, since this was my first time every laying down vinyl). I'm quite the perfectionist so I didn't trust that any shop could do it up to my standards. I did order up factory spec stripes, so they are exact replicas (measurement wise). Interestingly enough the tail light deck lid stripes you point out are actually smaller in width than the 3rd brake light stripe. I had a hell of a time trying to get it to blend in perfectly since they were different widths.

I didn't follow the exact Ford specified stripe spacing, but rather went from 1.35-1.40" up front and worked my way down to 1.25" out back. Odd numbers I know, but that is where the pre-cut stripes laid down perfectly with the contours of the car. This may be the reason the optical trick didn't work out back? I thought the illusion was only up front though?

Good eye on spotting that detail out!

Here is a front shot to show stripe measurement differences..
