Yea they really are. I had the peace of mind of having major company for my insurance but this is killing me.

ALL of the name brand companies have equivalent service. go with whoever is cheapest. i end up with a new company every couple years based on rate specials. it never fails that one of them will be running a super cheap rate to get new customers :)

Now im starting to get a little irritated. My wife finally got a hold of the agent. They haven't even sent the claim up yet because they didn't have the mileage on the car because the guy who came and looked didn't write it down. Awesome that no one even called for that. But she did say she thinks its a total loss and we will know by friday.

2nd thing. I have rental coverage on the car. State farm has 3 different available options for costs. Im in the middle one which is $30/day max amount of $900. Cool. Well obviously I haven't even been able to get a hold of the insurance to start that process until today. Fire happened on the 2nd. Now the agent tells my wife we need to pick enterprise or hertz and the prices online aren't the same because state farm gets a discounted rate. So I have my wife call both. Both companies state that state farm only allows the rental of only one specific class of cars. The cost of that specific class thru enterprise is 30.85/day. That means I would need to put out $.85/day for it which is BS. Hertz is $29.60 so that's obviously what im going with.

3rd thing. Even though I have a max of $900, the agent said that once state farm comes down with a decision we are only allotted 5 days more of use of the rental after that. Wtf?! I can't get the car repaired in 5 days or find a new one in that time frame especially when 2 of those days are on the weekend. Hell I wont even have the check by then. Complete garbage.

That doesn't make any sense. Call your agent again and have him/her clarify that. The 5 day limit might be after they decide that the car is a total loss, they settle up with you and it's all said and done. If the car is repairable I'll bet that the company will let you keep the rental until it's repaired or until you exhaust the $900 limit.

If your agent isn't willing to go to bat for you, get in contact with his/her district manager.

So is this your agent with state farm or did you just call a random agent that doesn't have your policy? They wouldn't have your info so I'd think it would have to be your agent. I worked for state farm for a little while. If someone called in with a claim we would note the account then tell them to call the claims center, so you should be dealing with a claims adjuster... something sounds odd... I've always had really good luck with claims with state farm, usually paying out top dollar and handling it reasonably fast, it can take 1-2 weeks to total out any car with any company. Longer since this happened on a holiday week, and they probably need to call in a fire investigator. They should provide you with a rental if you request until they hand you a check, although I had a problem with AIG taking my car away before then.

What would be a fair price for the chassis minus the motor and trans. Everything else would be included in stock form except the bullitt wheels may stay with it. I have no idea what to price it as if the car goes that route. Any suggestions?

I paid $3k for my 2008 roller with minimal interior, no front sheetmetal, and in need of paint. But it also has less than 1000 miles, so it's virgin underneath. Yours doesn't have the bodywork issues, but it's a 2006 (less desirable for a racecar) and it's got miles. I'm guessing you'll do a little better than $3k, but not much.

Sorry to hear about all the BS man. as far at the heater core on the fox, like said, just bypass the heater core. I had to do that on my 65.

Who's your agent? I had my accident in oct and it went suprisingly smooth. I have Bartjan Vargas in Esco.

Give me a call sometime if you need any help with anything.

Yea pretty much. I know they dont go off of KBB or NADA or anything like that since they have their own method of determining prices by locations and previous sales etc. I was only expecting them to say about 17. Not arguing though. Just hope they offer that too me if they total it lol

Final Verdict: Totaled

I think the insurance company wants too much for the buy back so Im going to try and work them down. I called a few salvage yards/cash 4 cars places and the highest offer I got was $500 :chainsaw:

Well, their payout is high so that will help compensate for the high buyback. If you subtract one from the other, what's the difference between the two numbers (the amount you would get if you kept the car)?

Is that with or without tax added in?
