... on my DD. Two reasons. $700 a year and the occasional monsoon. I live in the desert so it only rains a few times a year but those days get really treacherous. I don't want to buy tires every year like I have been because I'm trying to save for another project. I have a set of Hoosier QTP's that I use at the track. My big question is which tire I should be looking at? I was just pricing some 555 G2's but thought that somebody would be able to steer me in another direction with their experience. I do drive rather spirited and have about 460 ft lbs of torque. DR's have served me well but I'm looking at an alternate route and hope I won't be too disappointed with the traction aspect of a regular summer street tire.
I've run the 555R, NT05R, MT street radial and lately the MT SS's. The 555R was the least favorite but lasted the longest. The MT's offered the best traction but didn't last for squat in the mileage department. I know it's a trade off. I'm just wondering if anyone else has been in this dilemma and would want to share some insight on the best street tire for me. I think what it boils down to is getting the 555R's unless there is a regular street tire that can compare in the traction dept.
