I was installing my factory midpipe back on for smog here in CA, and I accidently put the nut on wrong on the driver side bottom threading for the header, I tightened it up and realized it wasn't moving 1/4 of the way in. So I removed it and saw that I had stripped the threading on the header stud. How can I fix this?

I've drove for 70 miles now and no CEL, do I need to drive 100 miles for my OBDII system to be ready for smog. - I had reflashed back to stock tune and returned the car back to stock for smog.

Replace the stud. From the dealer they are stupid expensive (like $32 each) but you can find suitable replacements at NAPA or other auto parts stores.

easy fix. open headers :naughty1:
i had this happen to me luckly i was taking my engine out already. i tried to remove the stud but it snapped on me. tried to drill a hole and use a extrator but they busted on me 4 times. i got mad so i found a pair of stock manifolds for 30$ on Craigslist and did the swap. had it easy i guess since the engine was out. i would just go to a local auto parts. in the "HELP!" boxes they have those universal studs. just need to find the thread size. the nut that went on there would let you know what size it is. use PB Blaster or wd40 before trying to remove that stud on the manifold, that was my mistake:crazy:

Also, every time I've stripped or broken an exhaust stud it was when the manifold was cold. If you totally fuck it up you can drill it out and use a nut and bolt to secure the pipe, or replace the stock header.
