sorry to say guys but gapping a hto plug takes a special tool

I may seem dumb here, but how do you use a $3 gapping tool from the register at the counter of the car parts store to gap the 3v shank style plugs?

I would suggest puting in a new set. When I went from 10 to 12 psi on my 06, I was getting a new tune, the shop called said it was missing up top some, new plugs smoothed it out and the next pull was +25 hp.

You can buy a spark plug gapping tool at any auto parts store, often they are in a cup or tray next to the register. Or even try a lawnmower shop. If you pay more than $2 it's too much. I have 3-4 old ones rattling around in the top drawer of my toolbox.

Sounds like you are refering to the round dial style tool?

You need a feeler gauge to check the gap and having the 3v plug tool is helpful but not absolutely required.

Mine seemed up top but now its anytime I give it gas if I really slowly roll into the throttle its okay but any medium tap and it happens.

You can also use a 9/16 socket, 3/32 punch, hammer and feeler gauge to accomplish the same task.

Thanks found that thread after asking. I compared to stock plug and current ht0 thats in it and looks like original gapping never been gapped before.

prob normal, boost probably is kicking in 2800-3000 so u feel a surge of power.

One of two things: a NA engine likes a bigger spark plug gap so with the smaller gap the flame front isn't travelling quite as fast-the tradeoff is that the plug can still arc the gap with elevated cylinder pressure and turbulence, or the tune was changed when it was tuned for the extra boost. Either way, not worth worrying about.
