After the new dynotune and cams, im at the point where i believe the tranny wont hold for long. About 6 months b4 the blower went on i had the SR55S beefed up and added a 3k stall. Both the kit and stall from TCI(Not my fav. but i got a decent package deal). Looking to do a Lentech 4R70W swap and probably going with the Street/Strip Terminator with 3500 billet stall. Ive seen write ups where people with 3650 swap to 4R70W but noone with SR55S. The 3650 swap seems quite difficult. Wondering how much easier it would be to swap since im already auto. Wondering if there will be any unforseen problems b4 i go ahead with swap. Just wondering if any1 here has done the swap and had any insight.

why not just build the 5r55s with a level 10 rebuild kit and call it a day? Them things seem to be bulletproof from what the MM&FF article says.

"5R55S" and the phrase "bullet proof" should never be used in the same sentence regardless of what any transmission builder says

MMFF is hilarious. Lots of biased and incorrect information in there lol

Well FWIW I talked to level 10 the other day told them my power level and plans and they told me it would not be a prob to build a tranny to last me . They said for me just to send them a detailed list of my setup and It would be custom built for me only thing is you HAVE to send them in your core because they don't have any at the moment .

Love my ATF Stage 4 4r70w full automatic Valve body with TB .

This tranny has been tested proven for over a year on my friends Silver Saleen, Car runs 9.20s built by Mustang Specialties leaves the car in D and it shifts on its own. You can put the tranny in 1st use the brake to leave the line, shift it into 3rd and it will do the rest. I bought mine shortly after , My car makes 800 to the rear wheels and 800 ftlbs , tranny hasn't skipped a beat.
Will be turning the boost up some more now in the winter air .

dont trust em Beau. problem with the 5r55s is the parts inside are too small. cna only do so much. and the tranny is still too new. 4r70s have been built for years and years. proven workhorses. many here had 5r55 built by level 10 and broke em. just look at the 1/4 mile et list. your not seeing 5r55s up there for a reason.

yeah, most tranny guys have said that even with replacing the drum and all the clutches and bands and so on, they are still only going to handle 550rwhp.

lol shit I'm not there is no way I am dumping $2500 on a " built " one then another $1000 on a converter , I will be swapping to a 5r55 BUT the main reason is just to get the pedal set ,shifter , and other random nick nack shit lol . If I spend any money on a tranny it will be a 4r or a th400 no doubt about it .

As soon as I get mine back with the 4R70W in it, I'll have a 5R55S available to anyone who needs a "core".

And add me to the list who thinks Level 10 (and MMFF) haven't proven shit yet. 600 to 650 at the tire is about the max the 5R55S can handle. Mine went at about 650, and it was "built".

I saw your car at the shop today. Hurry up and get it done so I can kick your KB ass at the track. I am going to Irwindale tomorrow to put the smack down on Adams 95 that runs consistent 6.60s.

To the OP, I have to be honest, I really loved how the steep 1st gear on the 5R55S made the car leave, pulling the wheels way off the ground. I lost some of that going to the 4R70W, but the 4R70W is much stronger and worth the reliability in my opinion once you close in on the 600 rwhp mark.

I'm not in a major hurry... I have no where to keep it right now anyway... garage is still full of patio furniture and my old BBQ. haha. Shit, I haven't even talked to Adam in a few weeks. Guess I need to call him and see what's up, though.
