So lately my cars transmission has been acting up. About a month ago when racing a friend i missed second gear, and it grinded. Well ever since then, just about every time i shift at wot (6k rpm) now, it will grind nasty and most of the time wont go into gear, If i shift at any rpm below 6k its fine and will go in fine. So im pretty sure its the second gear synchro. So after that i decided to take it to the dealer. Before i actually took the car i took off my jlt cai and returned it to the stock tune just so they wouldnt say it was "highly modified" or watever. On the way there i tried to make it grind and couldn't make it do it if my life depended on it. I still took it, and of course, they called me back the next day to tell me there was no problem found. So i picked up the car, put the intake and tune back on, and grinding came back. I installed che k member brace with torque limiters and didn't help at all. Why does it only grind with the CAI and Tune. What do i do now?? Can i just replace my synchros?? Or do i really have to get a new transmission?? I could also take it back to another dealership but how would they ever find out if it only occurs at 6k rpm. I dont want to tell them that because then theyll say that its "abused", and wont fix it. What can i do?? I hate not being able to shift into second

What year, and how many miles? The blockers are not completely proprietary, but they are definately expensive. I have found that I would sooner throw a trans in the garbage, than rebuild it. That wasn't always the case, freakin TR3650.

Luckily for you, I don't believe this is your problem. Did you set the preload on the torque brace?

Its an 09 with 14,500 miles. I didnt even know about the preload?? I just adjusted the torque limiter to allow the bolt to slide in the hole freely.

Since the engine tends to want to torque to the right (you sitting in the car), you will want to preload the limiter. Snug the driver's side down some, not much, just enough to keep engine torque from compressing the bushings and moving under load. You will want to extend the strut on the passenger's side to keep the engine stationary and not rock to the right. Does this make sense? It is not exactly difficult..

Be sure to post your results, please... I'm having the same issues. I may go 6060, but would be happy if it wasn't something major.

Yea ill definitely post when i get it fixed. I still cant believe that its already breaking with 14k miles. I could understand if i had a 500hp FI car, but geeze all i have is an intake, tune, and pullies, and taking a guess, at the most, i probably have 280 rwhp max. If not, maybe less. I don't get how it could break so soon though being that i don't even powershift. I have been searching the forums as well and all that i have found is people replacing the transmission when this happens, and definitely would like to avoid having to do that. Idk even know what to do, i already took it to the dealer and they said it was fine, i really don't want to spend 2k on a new transmission and install, (at 14,000 miles!!)

I'd invest in the some poly engine mounts as well, for ~$130 they are about $6-700 less than a transmission. Also, I believe Powerhouse is still having their "group shafting." Check with the vendors, in the vendor section.

+1. The brace with torque limiters isn't very useful if you don't have more solid engine mounts.

Prothane is a brand name and they are made of polyurethane materal as are other aftermarket mounts.

Check with the vendors, in the vendor section.

Tom@Hurricane announced specials here, so post up:

In the vendor section of the forum, you will find plenty of vendors willing to deal, JDM, Forward, Lethal, BBR and so on... If you plan on installing a BMR K-Member ($500), note that BMR integrates poly mounts into the piece itself so no mounts are req'd.
