Is there any other way to install the tensioners without the clip tool? If not where can I get it. Went to the Ford dealer and the rude jerk offs said they dont have Ford tools.

Yes it can be done. If I was to do it over again I'd just get new tensioners (they come with the clip).

Start a bolt and force the tensioner into position enough to get the other bolt started, you can figure it out from there.

If you're going to buy new tensioners then you need to buy the cast iron versions from the older 2V engines.

The clip to hold the plunger down on the plastic tensioners is somewhere around $7.

I sure wish I would have known that before purchasing a brand new pair of the 3V tensioners for my build

I had a tensioner arm fail due to the basic design of the tensioner. The plastic tensioners will allow the chains to "whip" when pedaling the car putting strain on the arm. The steel tensioners with the ratchet will keep tension on the chains and will limit the amount of whipping action. When I put my engine back together recently I used the steel tensioners to prevent this problem.

I assume the tensioners were the only items upgraded and you retained the remainder of the 3V timing components?
