Just got off the phone with Edelbrock and the rebuild of my supercharger is going to cost in the range of $1800-2300....ugh. Time to figure out how to ship it to them and get the ball rolling.

I'm going to end up doing the engine build myself with the help of Paul(againstallodds1) and my friend Steve who has a shop local to me. Still thinking of getting the pistons from L&M engines though since they seem to be a good design.

if you talk to Michael and tell him how you intend to use the car, he'll get you the best piston for your application, if you're going to go E85 you could even spec your CR to 10:1

That was my plan and I mentioned that to him earlier when I spoke with him. Even with me bringing a bare block and my crank he estimated roughly $4500-5000 just to build my bottom end. I can't swing that so I'm going to use my local friends who know what they are doing to build it myself.

I'm just crossing my fingers that the block I'm pickup up from Art this weekend can stay stock bore and just be honed...this way if/when another failure happens I can just bore that block out.

I know it is inevitable to have issues when the car is raced as much as I do so I wasn't surprised.

On a good note, there isn't one sign of detonation on the good pistons and heads so Lito's tuning has been spot on.

Here she is!!!

Well, the new(certified pre-used) block finally came back from the machine shop earlier this week so assembly was finally able to happen. My friend and I(mostly my friend) got the rings files, pistons and rods together, checked the bearing clearances and put that all in the block yesterday.

Today we looked into degreeing the cams and it turned out that they were within 1-degree of Comp's specs so they were just installed with a new stock crank gear. Got all of the timing components on, covers, balancer and filled her up with oil. Brought the block back to my house and I put the headers, engine mounts and a few odds and ends so I can put it in the car tomorrow. I'm doubtful that I'll get everything done so I can fire it up tomorrow but it will be close.

That's a hell of a job you've done - congrats on the hard work. Looking forward to hearing how it runs with the new engine.

Looks good. Don't be alarmed by the smoke that comes off when it's first started.

Keep us updated on the progress and don't forget to take a break once in awhile.

Thanks everyone. Got it in the car but i have all of the little stuff to do as well as get the trans back in. The trans is the pain in the ass part making sure i have the right clearance between the flexplate and the converter.

Even if I get it all done today, its raining so there wont be a break-in drive.

What the motor afraid of some water? :poke:

Heh...no, nearly bald drag radials and skinnies make me afraid of some water :thumb2: .

Once I take it out to drive, Lito & Michael from L&M want me to get into boost fairly quick to seat the rings so unless it's dry I'm not going to get on it. I want to make sure I break it in right.

How about some more pics while you are waiting for it to dry up?

My pistons and rings.

Cool! Our short blocks now have the same birthdays! Lol

Hehe...yup.

Now if it didn't take me damn near forever to get my trans back in :wtf:

That's where I stopped tonight but I still have to check the clearance between the converter and flexplate. Once I get the converter bolted up to the plate, then I will get the wiring and shift cable hooked up, put the driveshaft in, blower on, radiator and trans cooler in and then drain the E85 out of the tank so the break-in can be done on 93 pump gas.

Hard for me to believe that I can get the damn engine into the car in 1 hour but all this other shit is taking me forever. Doesn't help though that 2 of my friends stopped by and we were bullshitting for quite a while.
