I am looking at a used vortech kit. 1,500 miles (I know the guy to an extent so I dont think he would lie to me). Anyhow here is the rundown.

Vortech v3
Paxton air to air intercooler
3.33 pully
vortech fuel pump system
injectors

$3,600

He also has a blow thru setup for an extra $300. Please forgive my ignorance, but what would be the pros and cons of this? I would be looking to put down ~440 to the wheels on a safe dyno tune. Thoughts, opinions, etc welcome!

sounds like a pretty good deal. I got 3K from my non-intercooled set-up.

Make sure it had everything needed for start-up minus the tune. I would also consider an e-mail tune since this is a really common set-up and it will save a bunch of coin.

You really should factor in $400 or so for Vortech to rebuild the seals and bearings. I wouldn't trust ANYONE, because you know when they say it has 1500 miles on it, it could really be 10,000. Just spend the money and have it done before it's on the car, because doing it later will cost you more.

Also, spend a few bucks on T-bolt clamps, instead of using the worm style clamps that come with the kit. Those suck really bad.

Otherwise, looks like a good deal. I paid $1900 for mine, plus $1000 for the Paxton cooler.

That is a pretty good deal IMO. If the sellers name is Tom, he's very honest. I know his car pretty well...it doesn't get driven much at all.

With a 3.33" pulley your going to be making more than 440rwhp. Im running the same size pulley on my Paxton 2200 kit and am making over 500rwhp(check sig) with 12psi max boost.

The blow through would be a good option if you plan on going for bigger power down the road or just want a cleaner look under the hood. Keep in mind you will have to have a few parts welded up to switch to the blow through setup. I just got done switching to a blow through setup so if you want pics and more info let me know.

Go for it. The V3 is a nice little unit. Make sure you change the oil when you install it, and then change it again in a few thousand miles. Vortech calls for 3000 up front, then every 5000. I like using the procharger oil in mine as the bottle is less messy.
