Throttle body confusion

I have an '05 GTA. I was alwaysunder the impression that the stock throttle body is 58mm x 2, but when I measured mine, it was only 54.5mm x 2. What gives? I am looking at a TB for a GT 500 which Ford says is 60mm x 2 which would be a decent improvement without going to a twin 62mm.

I have an aftermarket Billet one here for conmparison, which is known to be 62mm x 2 to make sure I measured them in the correct place.

I recently put a BBK 62mm TB on my 07GT. The difference is noticeable in throttle response. As well with the power band after 3500rpm. I believe if you get the GT500 TB you have to also use an adapter plate for it to fit.

Well there is definitley a difference there....who makes the 62mm one you have? Is it the Granatelli?

That is a "Moto-Blue" . I bought that 4 years ago but it was too much for my mostly stock car. That is why it was thinking about the 60mm one from Ford for the GT 500. I am having a set of FRPP Hot Rod cams installed next week and though a bump in TB would be nice since I will have to be tuned anyway.

Yeah it's too much for my car too, it would be killer on a FI car though.
