My next mods will be an aftermarket torque converter & single aluminum piece driveshaft (Shaftmasters) with safety loop (BMR). Looking to purchase during this holiday season. For the converter I need to know what brand & flash-stall speed to get. Have been leaning towards Precision Industries. Car is street driven in nice weather & 1/4 miles track about 10x a year. Will be talking with vendors soon but wanted some users feedback first.

PI or circle D, get the multi disk, 3000-3500 stall is good enough for the twin screw blowers.

+1 PI or Circle D multi-disk for the converter. I have the PI but now that Circle D is making one for our cars I would lean in their favor, they are also a sponsor. For the stall speed, give Chris at Cricle D call and see what he recommends but I would go with 3000 for a mostly street driven TS blower.

I thought you had all that stuff? PTC I purchased and still sitting in my closet. While your there and if keep the 5r55, you may want to get the billet servos and hardened input shaft.

No, just on my mod list for awhile.

Forgive me but what do the billet servos & hardened input shaft do? Reason for changing & where to buy? Thanks

The billet servos affect the gear shifts and are fairly easy to install when the trans is out of the car. The hardened input shaft keeps the torque converter from twisting the shaft off under hard acceleration with your Whipple and just slides in to replace the stock one. Both items can be purchased from TCI and are highly recommended.

Yeppers. If you do a search you will find some pics of the input shaft splines twisted even at our power levels. As Earl stated buying them straight from TCI. Not gonna save any money thru a vendor, I tried that route. When you get the input shaft you will be surprised. Here are the part numbers:

TCI Billet Intermediate Servo Kit - part# 576005 = $76
TCI Billet Overdrive Servo Kit - part# 576006 $78
TCI input shaft part# 579600 $150

Thanks for the details. Are there any other brands than TCI, because I've read a lot of problems with their converters & transmisssions. Do u have the TCI parts installed yet?

I have installed a Performance Automatic deep transmission pan (holds additional 4 quarts).
Should I get a transmission cooler - Pros/Cons/Brands?

If you have the deep pan already, no need for a bigger trans cooler. The factory one should be good enough.

If you are interested in a PTC billet converter I have one, brand new. Should give you 3300 stall with FI. Its listed in the "for sale" section under "07 parts...". Been there a while. Look at it and make me an offer!

Level 10 makes some parts for that tranny but $250 for an input shaft is kinda high to me. Converters and trans I agree but not some of the parts. No sir I havent installed them. The parts are sitting on my closet waiting to be installed. PTC converter, PA deep pan, Input shaft and gotta get the servos.

I had a bad experience with my PI. I finally wound up sending it to PTC. It works great now. I would recommend PTC or Circle D
