I've been dealing with this problem for a while now, and I'm finally tired of the sensor light that goes on because of this problem.

I've never been able to program my left front rim, I'm assuming the sensor is bad, but do I need to purchase the whole band, along with sensor, or simply the sensor? I've never seen them in person, so I'm not sure if they are able to be swapped out without replacing the whole unit.

My other issue is my driver side rear tire. The sensor/band are obviously loose. Now, would this generally mean that the installer did it incorrectly, or has it broken off? I know this might be difficult to answer, but maybe someone that has had the same issue may be able to help me out.

Thanks. :thumb2:

The sensor can be removed/replaced without removing the band. I had two cheap aftermarket 20" bands break and the sensors were ruined.

^The bands can break over time. If it broke within a few days or weeks of being installed, then I'd say yeah, it was the installer. But if they've been there awhile, then I wouldn't blame him. Good luck.

The sensor is held in place with two-sided tape. The metal strap runs through the sensor and wraps around the rim. The strap is nothing more than a really long hose-clamp.

It was noticed a couple months after the tires were mounted and balanced. I removed them only once after install, and that's when I noticed them.

That's interesting, I didn't know that. Thanks for the input. What would you suggest though?

one of my bands snapped last year felt like I was driving a washing machine, not sure why they don't just stick with the valve stem sensors.

That would seem to make sense.

I can't hear it driving, only when rolling the tire around.

You can always remove the sensors and put them in a pressurized tube in the trunk. No more bands or out of ballance wheels and check your tires the old fashioned way!

This strategy works great as long as you can change tires yourself. Around here, the tire shops will not release the car back to you unless the factory TPMS system is installed and operating as per the factory specs. Just a heads up to check out the situation in your local area.

RIP - You will be missed
Can't you just bring the wheels and tires in "loose" and tell the shop that they're for a Fox or SN95 (or anything else that uses the same bolt pattern) that is unavailable or otherwise not currently driveable?

I used to be able to mount or change tires myself, but the 50 series and lower/17" and up are just too much work. Especially when ~$50 + supplies + tax gets me four tires mounted and balanced with no questions asked about TPMS. Drop pile of wheels and pile of tires off in the AM, pick up all done in the PM.

I thought I was the only one that wish they never added this sensor. It's great for BMWs and such, but I choose a Mustang for a reason.

Thanks for all the input.
