Hi all,

We're working on swapping a TR3650 into a 2007 Mustang and I got a couple questions:

1) How do you get the fitting for the clutch line off? Either the whole assembly or the "nipple" on the end? I got a new clutch line with new fittings and I'd like to replace the old one.

2) I got a Luk 07188 clutch kit for it and I'm trying to find what the proper distance from the throwout bearing to the clutch fingers is. Not sure if we need to shim it or not. I can't find a spec from the manufacturer or anywhere online.

Thanks very much!

On my 2010 the clutch line simply plug into the plastic fitting on the bellhouse and is retained by a steel wire spring clip. Hook the end of the wire clip and pull it out of the plastic fitting and then the tubing will pull free. Don’t loose the clip. You will need to reuse it. A similar arrangement connects the tubing to the master cylinder.
As to the throwout bearing/slave cylinder. When the engine and transmission are bolted together the throwout bearing and clutch fingers and a interference fit. There is no gap. If the throwout bearing is compressed 1/2” to 1” when the trany and engine are bolted together the clutch will work fine. If measuring shows you have less than 1/2” preload add a shim plate between the slave cylinder and trany.
I like to fill the slave cylinder with fluid before bolting it on just to save time bleeding the lines later.

Thanks. We got the plastic clutch line assembly off and it must have taken on water because it was all rusty. We're going to replace it.

I bought a SS clutch line from Russel . The SS clutch line has a bleeder valve .. which makes bleeding a little easier - I hope . So when I need to replace the clutch assy , I have all the needed stuff ready on the shelf . Including a MC from a GT 500 ..

do yourself a favor and go to harbor fright or amazon and get a cheap vacuum pump,
you will thank me later ,
i also got a remote clutch revisor,, but not needed for normal driving

but the vac pump will make bleeding the brakes or clutch or power steering a breeze with no guess work
