I'm sure this may have been discussed. I can't find it in search.
I have a 2005 v6 4.0 that I just bought. I had to replace the engine but now, the transmission is confusing me.
I dropped the pan because I had the torque converter off and needed to fill it back. so I changed the fluid. when I fill it to the correct level (it drips out running in park after cycling the gears and up to 100 degrees.) the transmission will not engage in forward or reverse. I pump an extra 2 quarts in it and it works.
at the correct level...I put in drive, it pauses or delays before engaging. then, if I idle forward, it disengages for a second before engaging again and repeats this engage/disengage cycle.
when over filled, it works okay. but when I drain it, there's a bunch of bubbles in the drained fluid.
any ideas?
