I replace all fluids every 30K miles but I'm a little OCD when it comes to car maintenance.

You don't need to, but I'm changing mine shortly hoping to improve shifting.

Next wonder, what fluid to put in?

Synchromesh 89021808??? Synchromesh 10953509?? (friction modified.) Penzzoil synchromesh!??!?! Mobil 1 ATF? Motorcraft Dexron V? DEXRON III?? Redline? Amsoil? Royal Purple? I heard synthetics damage the synchros!

It's a lot easier if the transmission is shifting properly.

On my 3650 transmission my favorite fluid was Pennzoil Synchromesh. Really smoothed out the shifts.

Change it whenever you like. It's cheap and you can do it yourself in less than an hour even if you've never done it before.

I went with Mobil 1 synthetic ATF in hopes of improved shifting, but it made no difference. I'll likely switch to the Pennzoil Synchromesh when/if I change it again. I think it was around 25-30K miles when I did the first change. The factory fluid looked fine.

35k is not too many miles but in my opinion, 8 years old is old fluid. I much prefer Mercon V to Syncromesh. Remember that the capacity of the TR-3650 is 3.0 liters or 3.25 quarts. It is not fill until spill.

I agree 8 years is old. I'd change the fluid because it is rather inexpensive and easy to do. I use Penzoil Phsyncromesh. Also I fill by attaching a clear hose to the bottle and running the hose through the shifter area inside the car to the fill hole on the tranny. Can get the bottle up in the air above the fill hole that way. Just make sure the hose doesn't come off!

This^^^^ Back in the Fox body/T5 days you pretty much had to run that stuff.

My WC T5 ran on cheap Dex 3, when it was full of good parts it was the best shifting transmission I have ever used in my life. When the blocker ring friction material wore out, nothing could make it shift.

People always hated T5's. They were just worn out.

Syncromesh for tr6060 and t56 for sure. Wouldn't use anything other than the mobile one atf or dex/merc III for a tr3650. Tried syncromesh in one and it immediately started grinding on wot no lift shifts 1-2, switched back to Walmart dex/merc III and it was fine again. Also tried mercon v because I can get it for free in a different 3650 and a couple weeks later it would start grinding on wot no lift shifts 2-3. Switched back to dex merc III and all was fine again. Buddy had good luck with mobile one atf in his with similar driving as myself, he used to run dex merc III and said it's the same when warm but cold it shifts better.

I just called Tremec and Dale (customer support) said "if it were mine, I would only put Mobil1 ATF in it, it's all we've used around here for years."
