Today was my first day using nitrous got a new personal best of 12.5. Bad news is I missed 4 gear. Could have had a 12.3 if I didn't. Anyways that was my last run of the day so I brought it back and put it on the trailer. When I go to back the car off to in load it will not go into reverse. I messed with a few Tim tried to shut it of and put it into reverse still doesn't go. So I try going through all the gears. It will go 1-4. No 5th at all when I try and but it in reverse it will act like it want to go but then just pop out. Is there anyway I just bent the shifter or am I looking at tearing the trans apart? Today was the first day of the season so I'm pretty bummed especially when I know I left a lot on the table.

5th and reverse are messed up? Could be the shifter getting bent or loose. Double check it. Would be odd to screw up the synchros for those gears without even using them on your runs.

Im thinking this might be a shift linkage or shift fork problem. Just because I cant get it into gear if its shut off. Anybody have a write up or can give me some tips on doing shift fork?

Take a look at where your front shift arm from the shifter to the transmission connects. There is a Clevis with a plastic bushing that is held in place with a bolt from the top. With enough force this Clevis can twist on the transmission rod and cause shifting havoc.

They do have shift forks. 1-2 3-4 5-r they have plastic pieces that can break. Im thinking this might be the problem. Seethrough I will check that before pulling the transmission.

Possibly broke the 3-4 shift fork. Mechanically stuck in 4th gear but the shifter still moves around because it is external.

Once you get it apart call Wally at Pro Motion Powertrain in Ft Lauderdale. 954-771-5575

So after a second inspection and another set of eyes, I'm pretty sure it the synchro. I had been checking the brass rings and missed the ring on the shift fork. It looks pretty hammered.
