Me too, I never expected otherwise with the powertrain warranty once I bolted the blower on.

But if a power window motor dies Ford is going to fix it :)

You have a build thread? I'm intersted!

Not on this forum, have one on SVTperformance, but not much of a build really. I bolted on the blower, loaded the tune, put some 18" drag radials on the stock rear wheels and some stiffer rear springs and it ran 10.80s the first time out. Whether was good at the track, -500 DA, surprised the heck out of me - and several new highly modded Camaro owners that were there also lol.

Indeed they are, one of the funnest daily drivers I threw together in a while. Its a great driving car and gets great mileage as well, not much to complain about for sure.

But, I could see how some people would be pissed that just loaded a tune in and broke a piston. Mine is an early build (5/10) so its unlikely the early cars are the problem. Curious to see how it all plays out after a little time and if it is real part or engineering defect.

Not me, that was a 2011 from Louisiana with a similar setup I believe.

I've only been to the track once, nearest 1/4 mile track to me is 225 miles so I dont go often. Should run a little better now after a little fine tuning but the car is really just a daily driver and not a race car so I'm not that concerned about improving ETs much. Its plenty fast enough to land you in jail or get you thrown out of a dragstrip the way it is ;)

I can see it if I ever get mine done, first pass then grab the time slip and head for the exit...

Hi,

I heard by 2 dealers here in Canada (at least) that every dealer received a note from ford, asking every dealer to void all the warranty on any 2011+ that had a tune, even if you return it to stock, they have a way to find out.

Anyone heard it ?

They don't really have a way to just find out. They're not going to do anything unless a vehicle comes in for a warranty repair. The vehicle gets diagnosed, and the concern gets identified (broken piston, spun bearing, failed cam follower, etc). Once the concern is identified, depending on the concern, the hunt is on for the cause of failure. If it's a broken cam follower, it'll likely get replaced and you're on your way. If it's a broken piston, melted piston, bent rod, etc, then they will start digging more, and find out why that happened. That's when they'll start digging into your PCM to see if it's had an aftermarket tune. If they find evidence of an aftermarket tune, or engine modifications that can directly cause the failure, then your concern is not covered, and your powertrain warranty will then get cancelled. However, the rest of your vehicle warranty stays in place.

I know where to not get thrown out after the first pass, but T&T gets a little boring after a while. If you want to race in real events a 10 second car with no roll bar is pretty useless.. OTOH if the track was 5 minutes away I would be there more often, but its a whole day affair just to make a couple passes so unless I was selling something its not really worth it.

I just took this car there to see what it would do, I put a 9psi pulley on it a while back and did a quick tune for it and I bet it would run .2-.3 quicker in similar weather but it really wasnt necessary for driving the car on the street so I just left the 7psi on there. I would redo the engine with better rods/pistons if I had to, but I certainly dont WANT to right now so I just play it safe.

Mine has a build date of 4/10 and has had absolutely zero issues.
