the shop said they had seen a couple times when changing from the sct to diablo the sct sometimes wouldn't actually back up the original stock tune. rather, it would just use a generic tune when putting car back to stock.
that said should i be looking to tow it to ford and get them to reflash the ecu with the stock tune. is there any other way besides ford to get the stock tune.
That is incorrect, the SCT device will load in exactly what it read out and saved as the stock file (even if it is not stock).
The SCT programmers flash the entire PCM. When a tuner writes a file and loads it onto an SCT programmer, it is the entire binary file (modified or not). When you plug in for the first time, a backup is taken of the file that is in the PCM. The PCM is then erased, and the custom file is loaded in.
There is no generic file it puts back in.
